Flutesnoot

Edu K left a good impression with the B-Live team at last years B-Live party in Berlin. They asked Edu K to do the next featured B-Live track. The actually rather funny named track “Flutesnoot” is what he delivered as yet another nice attribution too the B-Live series. But the thing that got me excited the most, is who they got to make a remix, namely: Brodinski! Two funky and bouncy house tracks, with the Brodinski remix as my favourite! It has that “darker” edge too it.

The Hoax Live Mix

Here’s the recording of The Hoax‘ set (me & my bro) on yesterday’s Schil On Stage DJ-Contest. We only had a half hour so we tried to fit in as many tracks we could. The first 20 minutes are filled with some heavy dubstep anthems, then we switched to drum & bass for the last 10 minutes. Here‘s our facebook fan page if you dig this.

Show Me The Night

Jump Jump Dance Dance is a fresh pop-electro-rock band from LA (US). Apart from their own rockish productions they also have a couple of solid electro remixes in their myspace player, check it out! Their debut single is called “Show Me The Night” and will be released on 26th February. I have an unreleased remix by Grum (thanks to Aleks from discodust!), which is always a guarantee for an awesome electro track. Very retro sound this time with solid (if not cliché) lyrics by the bands vocalist Carter.

What keeps you going

Studying for my final exam today (which is tomorrow), but I feel so bad leaving you guys hanging without any tracks for almost a week now, that I decided to “quickly” make this post. We got some quality tracks in our inbox from all sorts of different artists and labels and here the ones that caught my eye:

I’m starting of with this funky remix by Sabotage for “MMMatthias – James”, which probably falls a bit out of line with the rest of the upcoming tracks in this post. Very funky and old-schoolish, digging this kind of music a lot lately.

MMMatthias – James (Sabotage Remix)

Then a remix for We Love Animals, the “famous” track of Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell. Heard some other remixes the last few weeks, but this is the first one that I like. Religion gave the original a somewhat of a “MSTRKRFT” like sound.

Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell – We Love Animals (Religion Remix)

Talking about MSTRKRFT, the next track is a remix by Blende for “Breakaway” which was featured on their recent album “Fist Of God”. I don’t know how much of you guys know Blende, but if you do know their remixes, you know it’s banging electro trash your getting. It was a long time since I enjoyed a good trash electro track, but this one is most definitely spot on!

MSTRKRFT – Breakaway (Blende remix)

Next one is from Dutch ravy electro producer Sick Boy, It’s a promo for his upcoming EP “Hysteria”. It will be release the 20th February including remixes from Motor, NoNewYork and Homework.

And I’m ending this post with two full EP’s as free giveaway! The first one is the latest Breakdown featuring remixes from Lazy Ants and Jeff T. And the second EP is from Jean Balaise called “G.O.D.” (newcake.nl).

Mixtapes with a purpose!

The title sounds heroic, doesn’t it? …. We DJ’s know why we are making these mixtapes, right? We want people to enjoy our music choice and show of our skills, but most of all we want to be noticed and what would even better: we want go get booked by the biggest partys around! Some mixtapes though are not made to publicise the dj making it, but rather the event they are hosting or playing at! Anyway, I think this counts as a proper introduction for the next few mixtapes!

e-Minded
Is known as one of the guys behind Needle On The Record a well known Belgian party in Leuven. Here is his Filthy Angel Mix as a small promotion for the party concept but of course for him as well! A lot of unreleased/unsigned tracks, so definitely worth listening too.
Download (Soundcloud)

Geht’s Noch?
The immens popular flemish duo is scoring very well with their latest release “Horny”. The track is even getting played on national radio (Studio Brussel of course). They are also working on a new concept called “This Is Belgium” the first broadcast was last week and more will come later, also keep an eye on the blog because we will post some interesting facts about it later! The mixtape ran out of download limit, so until they pass me a new link, you can only stream.
Download (Sendspace)

Medfunc
Next, a promomix for the Sweet party by partyhosts Medfunc. A clean 20 minute mix to give you a perfect idea what to expect that night!
Download (Soundcloud)

Dada Life
They are realy starting to become world known. Dadalife is playing all over the globe (even touring with DJ Tiësto) and still manage to produce some quality tracks! Their newest mixtape contains a lot of exclusives: Dan Black/Kid Cudi Remix, DIM Remix, and so on.
Download (mediafire)

Klipar
His track Imperial March was featured here a couple of weeks ago and was popular among a lot of my readers! He’s still hitting the clubs with his buddy Dj Manaia as Zombies For Money, who are coming with a remastered version of their first (free) EP plus remixes from Malente, Foamo, … .
Download (direct link)

DJ Cat NYC
This last one is for the real clubbers among us! It’s the first mixtape by female DJ Cat NYC of this year featuring all the dance hits that are rocking the US club scene right now (if we may believe her!).

Watching Windows

Belgian drum & bass DJs Speedwagon and Stykz teamed up to make “Watching Windows”, a double mix-CD. While the first of the two mixes is all about Jump Up D&B, strictly aimed at the dancefloor, the second mix focuses on Liquid D&B, providing more relaxing vibes. Here are some of their own words about the mixes:

Dangerous and armed with three decks, one mixer and a lot of killer tunes, Speedwagon and Stykz present this double mixcd called Watching Windows.
On part one they come with nothing but pure bodyrocking madness moving any dancefloor from the front to back: the freshest cuts at this moment, big classics, rinse out teases and huge double drops.
On the second cd we take you on a different trip, a journey full of sounds where we want to show you our interest in the wide spectrum of all subgenres in drum’n'bass. Deep, soulfull, sexy, psychadelic, dubby and moody may sound like the appropriate keywords for this one.

The tracklists can be found in the comments. Both mixes are uploaded on dnbshare. Personally I prefer the second mix, but you can decide for yourself:

Speedwagon & Stykz – Watching Windows CD1 (1h09 / 63,6 MB)

Speedwagon & Stykz – Watching Windows CD2 (1h17 / 70,7 MB)

Martyn

Just found this interesting interview with Martyn for On-Point TV, posted at Phase02. Martyn is a Dutch producer who originated as a drum & bass DJ, but currently prefers making quality dubstep. His critically acclaimed LP “Great Lengths” was definitely one of the highlights of 2009! After checking out “Natural Selection”, you can buy it here.
Also, the mix he recorded for the famous Fabric series was released this month (he mixed it live, although it not being part of the FabricLive series). For more info about the CD go to the official Fabric website.
The other tune is a nice tech house rework of “Elden St” by Sebo K.

Chill Sessions

Here are some rather laid back tunes that help getting me through these shitty days of studying (exams till the 29th). Just relaxing vibes that don’t work too destracting…
First of all there’s some minimal dubstep by Emalkay and Modeselektor, in my opinion two of the best tracks of 2009. Then there’s Joy Orbison, who’s breakthrough is a fact thanks to the quality stuff he keeps coming up with. Last but not least a nice dubstep jam by The Boog-A-Loo Crew.
