Getto? Ghetto?

Been a while since I heard anything about “The Proxy” , his myspace says “STUDIO” so it looks like he’s working on some new material. In await of that material I got a track by “The Mould“, Proxy talked about this new Russian artist in an interview recently. Getto is his first own production and it’s somewhat in the same style as The Proxy.

The Mould – Getto

And while I’m talking about gettos?ghettos?, here’s a cover(?) by Noob I bumped into while scrolling true twitter. The best way to look at it is as a “remix” of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club”. A lot of build ups in this track followed by a lot of “GO GO GO”s by 50 Cent! Bit boring if you’re listening the whole thing at home, but I think this track could work very well in the clubs.

Riva Starr – Essential Mix

“Naples born, London based, DJ & Producer Riva Starr takes control of the Essential Mix. He’s one of 2010’s hottest properties and has recently remixed the likes of Fatboy Slim, The Gossip and Reboot. His new album, “If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade”, has just been released on Jesse Rose’s Made To Play Records. The mix features exclusive tracks from his new label ‘Snatch!’”

“Riva Starr is a name that should be very familiar to anyone with an interest in modern house music. Having shot to the top after a string of head turning releases and remixes on some of the most talked about labels, Riva Starr couldn’t be hotter right now. What’s quite remarkable though is how quickly Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr has established himself so prominently on a DJ/producer circuit that’s notoriously difficult to break into. It doesn’t hurt that Claude VonStroke and Jesse Rose, the two men who sit on top of the pile, happen to be two of his biggest fans.”

Overnight

About a week ago George Lenton gave out some free tracks to the blogosphere, including “San Angel”. It’s like a beautiful laid back soundscape. Something nice to listen to when you’re just chillin’ in your room or whatever you like doin… The second one brings more energy and shows some nice variety in his production.

George Lenton – Cold Rocker

Scottish DJ/Producer Hudson Mohawke has been making some very inspiring productions, combining hip hop with electro and pop music. In this one he used a sample of a guitar riff by the Klaxons, if I’m not mistaking. Last summer he played at Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it there, but if someone did see his show, please leave a comment how you liked it.

Here’s a fresh remix by Breakbot, who’s now signed to Ed Banger Records. This French producer started 2010 with a couple of remixes. This one I liked the most. Expect his new EP out on Ed Banger Records on February 14 with a remix by Siriusmo.

Jan Turkenburg – In My Spaceship (Breakbot Remix)

The last one is a dubstep tune by XI. The track itself is quite basic and minimal, but that bass is just HEAVY!

I want more disco!

Disco seems to be a new hype in the electronic producing/dj scene (the more commercial scene that is). It all started with tracks like Ducksauce – anNYway and Fake Blood – I Think I Like It. Tracks as these setted the trend for producers to look up some of those old 80′s disco samples and polish them back up to fresh funky tracks for the modern dancefloor. I’ll have to admit, I’m absolutly in love with this new “hype” and enjoy listening to the disco samples that are being thrown at my head. Frank Agrario feat Les Fauves jumped on the disco-train and are releasing (under the alias Funeral Party) this funky, groovy, discofeverish track “I Want More Disco”. The track is set to release the 18th February on Mozzarella Recordings.

“Imagine if The Beegees had samplers and drum machines instead of a bass guitar and keyboards? Take off the cheesy vocals, add some classic disco strings, structure the track in a modern way and your recipe is ready to be enjoyed – a 2010 disco classic in the form of “Funeral Party – I Want More Disco.” “

Chill Sessions #2

pic by Ikaruga

Here’s part two of the Chill Sessions series, something I’ll keep on doing from now on (next to the banging tunes of course). Here‘s part one in case you missed it.

I’ll start this off with a real classic by Digital Mystikz (Mala and Coki). They were part of the majorly influential South London dubstep scene around 2004 (with Benga, Skream, Loefah and many more). This track is from 2006, and I can definitely tell you that this track is just timeless.

Digital Mystikz Ft. Spen G – Anti War Dub

The next two tracks are some nice liquid drum & bass tunes. Furney has only been around for a couple of years, but he has made some magnificent remixes and originals.
Lenzman (NL) and Redeyes (FR) worked together for this great remix with some awesome deep sounds, check it out!

BCee – Glitter Balls (Redeyes & Lenzman Remix)

In 2009 Calibre, which is in my opinion the best liquid d&b producer worldwide, released a double CD called “Shelflife”. He also included some none-d&b tunes on the album, like this one. He reworked his own track Over Reaction to a downtempo 120bpm beat. This is the result:
