One of my favourite EP’s was recently released, 19 March to be exact. Unfortunately I was on holiday during the weekend so I wasn’t able to make this post earlier. This second collaboration with Erol Alkan was becoming one of my obsessions lately, checking how many days left till the release was a daily task. Their first Ep Waves/Death Suite was definitely a great succes, but I’m thinking this one will do better. Avalanche isn’t really my cup of tea but Lemonade makes up for it.

This last track is a remix by Deaf Tunes. Boy did this remix blow my mind, I advise you to turn up your speakers at 0:44. (And the rest of the song offcoures)

Alex Gopher recently released a double cd album “My New Remixes” which is a compilation of his best remixes from the last two years (Beatport). Next on his schedule is a new EP release on his own label “Go 4 Music” early April. As a small warm-up for that upcoming EP Alex Gopher sent us his rework of Pablo Decoder & Tim Healey “Echoes In My Head”. A typical Alex Gopher remix, which is in the end just plain Electro-House (I’m saying it in a good way)!

The reason I’m posting this is mainly because the man himself is coming to Belgium end this month, 27th March to be more precise, you can find further details here: Pe*Ples
Big things coming up for UK based drum & bass producer Heist. A couple of months ago, a preview of his next drumstep (halfstep d&b) track called “I Need Killers!” got played at Grooverider’s radio show. Check this killer tune out here.
Then Heist himself dropped some more drum & bass madness on his own Youtube channel (isn’t Youtube the perfect substitute for Myspace to discover new music?). “Unicron” and “Mothership”, two of the stand out tracks, are being released at Heist’s own Sumo Beatz label. Together with Benny Co-Lab he runs a couple of big labels like Co-Lab Recordings, Calypso Muzak and Sumo Beatz.
The quality of the following clips isn’t great but gives a nice idea about the two tracks.

We are leaving the winter behind us and start looking forward to those first summerfestivals and summerpartys. The next two tracks and two mixtapes will probably not be the summer anthem of this year but they sure get the summervibe going.
First up a remix by Dj Manaia and Alif (behalf of DropTop), they remixed one of the biggest hypes in the blogosphere a while ago: Congorock – Babylon. After the amazing video from the A/V Scion project a lot of mp3 rips were spread and it was played all over the place even though it still isn’t released (I plea guilty). Funky remix but I was suprised the tempo wasn’t cranked up to the maximum, as I’m used of hearing from our GetHypedOnThis regular: Dj Manaia. The remix has some Majorlazer-like lyrics going (it’s actually Mr.Flex) on which are also added to the Original mix now out on Beatport!

Next a rerub(?) by The Disco Villians, yet again another surprising outcome. Very relaxed/laidback track instead of the pumping electro beats. Would love to hear this track at some huge summer outdoor event. Steaming hot.

Then the mixtapes I was talking about. The first one is from Mumbai Science who’s first EP is set to release end this month on the Lektroluv label, we did an interview with these guys which you can still read here.
Last but not least a new mix from Riva Starr. Love his style, love his music, love to drop his productions in my sets every single time and for some reason they never get boring!

Fat & Ugly is a german based producer who recently sent us his latest tracks. The first track is called “Stachus (Fat & Ugly Remix)”. It wil be released on Bobble Music in a few weeks. The combination of a classic rave synth and a nice bassline usually does the trick.

He describes the next track somewhat more acid influenced. I had the same thought when I first heard it.

The second installment of the Mystery Mix series is here! This time it’s not DJ Neoteric, but Brodinski who created the mix filled with exclusive tracks. Now it’s your turn to track down the complete tracklist! The first person who emails the complete tracklisting to mysterymix@discobelle.net wins a Pacemaker – The Ultimate Music Machine, which has a retail value of over US $600. This device can make you interact with the music you’re listening to.
The coming weeks, some clues to this puzzle will be dropped at a couple of websites:

My god it’s finally here. Ever since Afrojack posted this video (watch it) of bangduck in his studio I was trying everything to get my hands on the track. To the ones who think it sounds like Bangkok: “It’s not called Bangduck without a reason duh”. Afrojack kinda made a track to diss Boris Dlugosch for “copying” his sound and making a track with it. I also think that it resembles to “Cool (Afrojack Remix)”, but Afrojack just wanted to show other dj’s to keep their hands of his tracks. You won’t hear me complaining!

Third post in the Dubstep Round Up series. Let’s start things off with a whole lotta Circus Records. The label founded by Flux Pavilion and Doctor P holds some of the biggest (filth) dubstep producers who make the most sought-after dubplates.
Doctor P turned 12th Planet‘s Reasons in what you could say an updated version of Sweetshop, his biggest hit so far. This tune will definitely get the crowd movin! Another dubplate that has been rockin’ parties worldwide comes from Flux Pavilion. Great vocals followed by a big ass drop. And then there’s Funtcase with a forthcoming big tune: “Takin The Piss”.

GetDarkerTV: Circus Records Takeover: GetDarker invited the Circus Records crew over for a 4 hour live stream of dubstep madness. A lot of people were having troubles connecting to the live event (it took me about a half hour). Luckily for them the sets were recorded and are available for download! (Links seem to be down atm. Download the podcasts on iTunes)
A collaboration between TC and Joker: a match made in heaven. It’s only a radio rip from Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio One, but it’s too good not to share it. Also be sure to check out “Tron” on his myspace player, another one to look out for!

Belgian upcoming producer Vyron made this dark, heavy remix of Psycho Gorilla. We’ll definitely hear more of this guy in the future.

Grime Ministers EP is a free release – which can be found here – with tunes by Document One and J-Me. I prefer the productions by Document One.

Check out this sick video (using parts of tv series Dexter) for one of L-Wiz‘ latest tunes “Mexter Dorgan”. L-Wiz, part of All Out Dubstep (Swedish dubstep crew), is mostly known for his laidback track “Girl From Codeine City”. This one’s a lot heavier!

Last track already. Dark Sky is a UK based dubstep collective. Their entry for the Bonobo remix competition is one of the best tunes I’ve heard all year. There are still a few days left so do them a favour and give them your vote here.
