Mixtapes in a row

Quick post with some variated mixtapes! Medfunc made a special mixtape for the Heavy Thrills podcast, another nice blog by a Belgian colleague. The Surpeems made a mixtape for the summer, summer is almost over but if you don’t have it, it’s still worth listening. Viktor Bodrovski, is still a young guy trying to get his name out here, but he’s one of the few who still swings vinyl around at partys, nice mix with some alltime classics!

Next, let’s talk about the first compilation CD of Tuff Em Up Records which is mixed by GTRONIC and Nadisko. You know how these two sound in general? Well just expect a CD full of this madness mixed perfectly together. The CD includes tracks as The Oddword – Kortelas (VNNR Remix), Dj ANTENTION – Go, Gtronic – Sucker Punch, Polymorphic – Rock On, The Mould – Getto, and so on! Heavy heavy stuff! And big up for the artwork as well!

Thanks to our good friend Gtronic I’m able to give away 3 of these cd’s, unfortunally this small competition will be limited to our Belgian followers, sorry guys! Maybe in the future some global competitions!

“In welk land is Tuff Em Up Records ‘gevestigd’?”

en als shiftingsvraag:

“Hoeveel fotos/muziek (geef totaal) hebben wij in onze Media Library van wordpress? niet alle fotos/mp3′s die je ziet zijn altijd opgenomen in de library!”

FCKN CREW – DISCOKE

The FCKN CREW has amazed us in the past, but that was about two years ago. All what came after those first tracks and that amazing djset “Fckn Crew live @ fleche d’or (11/01/08)” was a bit rubbish to say it harsh. So this new EP… I was skeptic at the beginning. But I must say they did a pretty good job on this one. It’s hard trash electro, but with a good melody too it and not toooo much noise (as in the past). It features an original and 4 remixes and above all absolutely free!

FCKN CREW – DISCOKE (Full EP)

Tracklist:
DISCOKE
DISCOKE (THE TOXIC AVENGER REMIX)
DISCOKE (BULLWACK REMIX)
DISCOKE (THE BOOMZERS REMIX)

The XX – Shelter (Tiga Remix)

All the blogs will probably jump on this one, a free track coming from mister Turbo Recordings: Tiga. The XX gets nothing but amazing reviews for the live performances they bring. Their music is a bit “dark” and probably that bit “emo”, but the atmosphere around it is amazing. I think Tiga tried to keep that same atmosphere around it, but making it just that bit more suitable for the “dancefloors”. He succeeded perfectly and this is one hell of a free remix!

M.I.A. – XXXO (Modek Remix)

M.I.A. recently released her latest album /\/\/\Y/\, a great success in my opinion! Along with Steppin Up and Born Free the track XXXO is one of my favorites on the album! And if I’m correct it’s also the very first single, a video is online on youtube since a few days back, but in comparison with any previous videos of M.I.A. this one lacks a bit of inspiration and is a bit boring actually.

Modek produced a vocal remix of the track ,just for fun, as he says himself, but the results isn’t half that bad! nice drums and basses and some typical Modek heavy stuff around 3 minutes in the track.

2 Many Dj’s at Pukkelpop 2010

Yesterday 2 Many Dj’s closed the mainstage at the Pukkelpop festival. It was the 25th birthday of the festival and it was completely sold out! This edition was packed with huge names and terrain was of course packed with people from all over the world. But there was also some drama involved, the first day the sound technician, who also was the father of the lead singer of the band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club died after a hart failure. The second day something even more shocking happened, the lead singer of the British pop-electronic band “Ou Est Le Swimming Pool” committed suicide after his gig. But the show must go on and the festival went on as planned. Bit of a strange edition I think …. even though I can’t really say, because I wasn’t their myself …

If you understand a word or two Dutch, check out all the interviews and lots of live material of the last 3 days right here on the Studio Brussel website, not sure if many livesets or so will follow, but here’s the one from 2 Many Dj’s to begin with. (quick edit: apparently is rather crap … if I find any better I’ll update! <3)

Eskimo Twins

I have some very exciting stuff for all you who love beats and lots of bleeps! Eskimo Twins is a duo from the UK and they presented me their new EP on Wax:On Music. Their inspiration and influences comes from producers as DJ Pierre, Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk and their love for music goes from acid, disco, electro, to pop. Eskimo Twins have recently won support and praise from the likes of Chemical Brothers, Drums of Death, Groove Armada, Fake Blood, Annie Mac, Kissy and many many more.

The new EP comes with remixes from Justin Robertson (under his Deadstock 33 moniker), Matt Walsh, Ado, The Sonic Emporium, and RipTide. Here are the two tracks “Judas” and “Droid” in 128kbps, if you want them in 320kbps you can do so by … tweeting?! Full release 6th September 2010.

In The Summer (Streetlife Deejays Remix)

I posted a remix by Malente for this track a few days ago (two posts below!), but this next remix for this same track deserves a post on it’s own! Why? Well it’s probably because of my recent love for those new disco like tracks (thanks to Villa and Aeroplane!). Low BPM basslines and disco elements are really starting to grow on me. This remix by StreetLife Deejays matches that same describtion, hmmmmmmm love it.
