It’s been more than a year since me and my brother (aka The Hoax) made our last mixtape (you can still find that one here), so we thought it was time to make another one. We’ve chosen to make two separate mixes this time, one containing nothing but dubstep, the next one will be all about drum & bass (coming soon). If you likes our mixtapes, go like our facebook page to keep you updated!
Lets start this 9th episode of our beloved Dubstep Round Up series with a real banger! As you all probably know Original Sin is a badass jump up drum & bass producer. With many classics to his name (also from his G Dub-years) he has nothing to prove anymore. Still he keeps raising the bar producing banger after banger, not caring whether it’s drum & bass, drumstep or even dubstep. On his latest offering on the infamous label Playaz Recordings he tries out many different styles. “Air Raid” is the only dubstep tune on the EP, but it’s definitely a heavy one! Check it out below! You can find the remaining tracks here.

The next tune is actually drumstep, but it’s a remix by Flux Pavilion so I’m not really cheating… It’s his first drumstep tune, but he shows his skills once again. It definitely has that ‘Flux-sound’ to it! Kinda makes me excited about what the future will bring for this guy.

Talking about the future, these guys know all about it. Koan Sound have been pushing the envelope for years now and they’re finally getting some well-deserved recognition. On their latest EP Funk Blaster their main focus again went to 100BPM music, but I could also find a great dubstep track in there. Check out these tunes and buy the EP here.

A bit heavier is Hulk‘s latest EP Smash The Planet. Prolific‘s “This Is For My Hustlas” gets a nice rework. Buy the EP here.

Up-and-coming UK dubstep producer Widowmaker on his turn decided to make a remix of Skream‘s “Wobble That Gut”. A wise man once told me never to touch classics like that, but Widowmaker’s effort is rather huge! Not only does his remix outweigh the original, he decided to give it away for free! That’s right, go thank the man on his facebook page.

Next up I have three tracks for you that go very deeep. “No 6″ by Soap Dodgers was released on Wheel & Deal Records two months ago. The b-side “Drum Roll” is worth checking out as well. More recently SP:MC had a release on Tempa. The a-side “Hunted”, which is also very minimal, features Lx One.

Time to finish this post with a bangin’ track by MiM0SA. Someone, give me a car with a decent soundsystem, so I can drive around while blastin’ this song through the speakers! I wouldn’t call it a ‘dubstep’ tune, but I can’t come up with any label that would fit this kind of music… So just hit the play button and find out for yourself! His album is available on iTunes.

A lot of things kept me from posting the last few weeks. I’ve seen some great dj-sets at Dour Festival last week by Camo & Krooked, Original Sin, Rusko, Doctor P, Bassnectar and many, many more… But I’m back with another Dubstep Round Up!
Hitz featuring Tinie Tempah is the latest single off “No More Idols” and has 4 official remixes. 16bit really destroyed the tune (in a good way)! Also be sure to check out the drum & bass remix by Delta Heavy. Buy the remix EP here.

The Others‘ highly anticipated “First Flight EP” will be released on Monday, containing First Flight (below), Break Your Neck and two more tunes!

Next up we have Trolley Snatcha with 2 new remixes. They’re both not his best work, but Trolley’s average is still pretty damn good!

More Dub Police madness coming up! Subscape has developed a new style, which he has used in a couple of remixes before (like his remix of 2Gether). The bouncing 4×4 beats give the song the right energy to get the crowd going!

Some of you might remember the post we did two months ago on BadKlaat‘s latest EP. The next tune Battlin is featured on “The Takeover EP” and gets support from the biggest players in the dubstep scene. Other artists on the compilation are Brown & Gammon, T Vicious and Standard Procedure (to name a few). Buy the EP here.

Next up a high frequency banger by Daladubz, using some gangsta rap vocal samples. Released on Abducted Records.

Belgian dubstep label Untitled! has just released their fourth EP, produced by 501. “Strings Attached” has a nice groove to it and will most certainly stir up the dancefloor. Buy the EP on Beatport. Free track “Black & Blue”, which you can download below, has a quite similar vibe.

If you’re more into the ‘deep’ side of dubstep, the next two tracks might be your cup o’ tea! DJ Hatcha and Lost mixed some eastern vibes with bird sounds and… lots of BASS! Also be sure to check out the second drop!

Last time I made a Dubstep Round Up was back in October. A lot of time (and big tunes) passed by, a bit too much actually! I’ll try to be doing this monthly from now on. In this post you’ll find some free albums, as well as the biggest dubstep tunes of the passed month(s).
It’s been a long time since we’ve made a round up of the latest dubstep tunes. With some big new releases from Flux Pavilion and Downlink, I felt like it was time for another one! I tried to make a quick selection of the hottest tracks right now.
Drum & bass producers go dubstep, part 1. Adam F turned Afrojack’s tune into a real dubstep anthem. The build up has a big trance-feel to it, but the drop is totally worth it. Commercial dubstep at its best.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Drum & bass producers go dubstep, part 2. Original Sin (ex G-Dub) and Taxman, two masters of the jump up d&b scene, collaborated for their “Penamana EP”. The Ep contains two dubstep and two drum & bass tracks. Take No More is the stand out track for me, using their older sounds in a dubstep track! Did I mention Taxman and Original Sin are brothers?

The biggest EP this week came from Flux Pavilion. It’s called “Lines In Wax EP”, holds 4 tracks which are all big tunes! There’s ‘I Can’t Stop’, there’s the vocals from Foreign Beggars on the title track, and then there’s these two:

Like I said earlier Downlink released some great stuff as well! He sticked to his signature style, but the EP has still some great variation. Show some support and buy the EP here!

Hulk is a collaboration between Claw and Richie August. They’ve made some great tunes, but haven’t really got to the big crowd yet. It will only be a matter of time I guess!

What’s a dubstep round up without the one and only Doctor P? His latest remix got featured as a bonus track on Blame’s new album “The Music”.

A piano melody, a catchy voice and a big big drop. Dubba Jonny did a great job trying to make an anthem. However the track gets too hectic sometimes (big drop + piano + vocals = a bit too much). Here‘s the videoclip.

Drum & bass producers go dubstep, part 3.
On Shock One’s latest remix EP, a dubstep remix by Phetsta popped up.
As far as I know it’s his first dubstep tune and it’s a pretty good one! The vocals tend to give me the creeps though…

Drum & bass producers go dubstep, part 4.
Also Muffler wanted to make something new after dozens of drum & bass releases and 10 years in the business. So why not dubstep, he thought. This is the result:

A month passed by since the last round up (check em all out here), so there’s a lot of tunes I haven’t posted yet. It’s time for a big dubstep post!
I’ll start with the heavier stuff. DJ Wire did a great job remixing “Guns And Horses”, a poppy song by Ellie Goulding. DJ Wire made some great tracks before, like his remix of “Hooligans” by Example and there’s also “Alien Halloween Disco”, an energetic drum & bass tune.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
“Poor Man’s Style” starts as a nice ragga dubstep track but PropaTingz quickly turns it into a nasty banger. PropaTingz (US) has been producing some great stuff lately, keep an eye on this guy!
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Next up a set rip of “In The Hood” by Slum Dogz. These fellas have been making some of the sickest jump up drum & bass and now they’re taking over the dubstep scene! You can also hear some parts of Doctor P’s “Gargoyle” getting mixed with the track.

Slum Dogz – In The Hood [CLIP]
BBC Radio One host Kissy Sell Out has a brand new label (San City High) and wants to celebrate this by giving away some free music! To download free tunes by The Squatters, Hot Pink DeLorean, Lazy Flow and 16bit, you have to subscribe to their mailing list here.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
You’ve probably heard this one before, the Grifta remix of “Faxing Berlin”. That drop is quite epic if you ask me.

Swindle made a pretty impressive EP called “Airmiles EP”. On the title track he uses a late snare drop on a big rushing beat. “Coffee” is a more laid back, funky tune.

Time to slow things down a bit. devonwho makes a double appearance on the outstanding compilation album ‘Producer #2′. This ain’t really dubstep, but it definitely has the same vibe to it. The album, with artists like Martyn, Mike Slott and dBridge is really worth listening to. Buy the album here on iTunes.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The next one isn’t dubstep either, it’s the drumstep everyone is making a fuzz about. ITAL TEK has a great new album out on Planet Mu (they also released Swindle’s EP). This outstanding track is on that album!

Another great dubstep album came from Guido. His style can be described as the combination of Joker’s so called purple sound with Starkey’s productions. His album is called “Anidea” and can be bought here.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Today’s biggest bass comes from DJ Madd. The title, “Dub Marine”, fits the track perfectly. He also did a collab with Matt-U and got remixed by Ikonika. The B-side of that remix is DJ Madd’s superb tune “Detroit Skank”.

Last but not least we have TC, one of the biggest drum & bass producers at the moment. It seems like he has a thing for commercial pop music lately, because these remixes keep coming! You won’t hear me complain though, he does it like no other could do it. The first part of the song is dubstep, then he turns up the tempo to drum & bass.

A lot of big tunes have been popping up since the last Dubstep Round Up (click), so I guess it’s time for a new one!
I’ll start things off with two brand new mixtapes. The first one by Breakage is for the fans of ‘deep’ dubstep. Roots Manuva describes his music as “talking to sealife” (you know.. cause it’s soo deep).
If you like your dubstep really filthy, the next mixtape by Diesel will be your cup of tea! Both tracklists can be found in the comments.
Diesel – May the 4th Be With You (Diesel May Mix 2010)
Alright enough with the mixtapes, now some fresh tunes!
Most of you probably already knew this, but Rusko‘s new album ‘O.M.G.’ is about to drop! The following tracks are stream-only, you’ll have to wait till the album release on May 10th (see picture).

Drum & Bass producers who suddenly make the switch to Dubstep, it happened before and it will happen again. For example Eddie K, who used to make jump up D&B and now makes filthy dubstep. Yay!

For the next track, Cookie Monsta sampled the vocals of “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometimes” and added a big, rolling bassline to it.

Style change of the year goes to… George Lenton! No more heavy bangers, just nice laid back music now. Remember “San Angel”? If you don’t listen to it here

And now for some more filth to finish this post. Upcoming producer Hurley made this banger!

Third post in the Dubstep Round Up series. Let’s start things off with a whole lotta Circus Records. The label founded by Flux Pavilion and Doctor P holds some of the biggest (filth) dubstep producers who make the most sought-after dubplates.
Doctor P turned 12th Planet‘s Reasons in what you could say an updated version of Sweetshop, his biggest hit so far. This tune will definitely get the crowd movin! Another dubplate that has been rockin’ parties worldwide comes from Flux Pavilion. Great vocals followed by a big ass drop. And then there’s Funtcase with a forthcoming big tune: “Takin The Piss”.

GetDarkerTV: Circus Records Takeover: GetDarker invited the Circus Records crew over for a 4 hour live stream of dubstep madness. A lot of people were having troubles connecting to the live event (it took me about a half hour). Luckily for them the sets were recorded and are available for download! (Links seem to be down atm. Download the podcasts on iTunes)
A collaboration between TC and Joker: a match made in heaven. It’s only a radio rip from Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio One, but it’s too good not to share it. Also be sure to check out “Tron” on his myspace player, another one to look out for!
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Belgian upcoming producer Vyron made this dark, heavy remix of Psycho Gorilla. We’ll definitely hear more of this guy in the future.

Grime Ministers EP is a free release – which can be found here – with tunes by Document One and J-Me. I prefer the productions by Document One.

Check out this sick video (using parts of tv series Dexter) for one of L-Wiz‘ latest tunes “Mexter Dorgan”. L-Wiz, part of All Out Dubstep (Swedish dubstep crew), is mostly known for his laidback track “Girl From Codeine City”. This one’s a lot heavier!
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Last track already. Dark Sky is a UK based dubstep collective. Their entry for the Bonobo remix competition is one of the best tunes I’ve heard all year. There are still a few days left so do them a favour and give them your vote here.
Dubstep Round Up, Part 2. In case you missed the first one, here it is.
I’ll start this post with a heavy pounding remix by Nero. This is one of those tunes that will get the whole crowd movin’ on their feet. Like… anthem-style.

British hiphop collective Foreign Beggars have a thing for sick beats. That’s why they got Noisia to produce some of the tunes on their new album (they turned out to be the best tracks on the cd, check out Contact and Shake It). Their aggressive raps fit perfectly with the heavy dubstep filth we all love. One of the excellent remixes comes from man of the moment Excision.

Did I just say Foreign Beggars have aggressive raps? Wait until you hear grime MC Tempa T on the mic. Ashburner made the perfect remix with the perfect beats for his tune “Next Hype”. Check the video here. Big tune!

Drum & bass legends Drumsound & Bassline Smith have been around for about 10 years now and have produced a large amount of hits. It doesn’t seem like they’re stopping any time soon, because those hits keep coming. With “R U Ready” last year, they had another great partystarter, which is now revived with this bigroom dubstep remix.

After all this heaviness it’s time to mellow things down a bit. Here’s three tracks that you can chill to.
First is the free giveaway remix by Breakage. The first single off Massive Attack’s new (great) album gets a nice dubstep treatment.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Then there’s Elemental, a producer who is relatively unknown to me. His latest release “925 b/w Arise” is a must have for all the bass lovers out there. Buy the EP here.

Last but not least a tune with a nice flow and some cool vocals. TRG made this one back in 2008.

It’s been some time since we’ve mentioned some dubstep on this blog, so I figured I should do a big round up of some of the tunes I’ve been into since our last dubstep post. This is one for the bassheads!
To start things off, now even the Wu-Tang Clan has found its way to the world of dubstep, through the release of “Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Vol. 2: Enter The Dubstep”. It’s a full album containing 19 of their tracks, remixed by artists like DZ, Excision & DatsiK, Matt U, Stenchman, Evol Intent and many more. I must say there’s some real quality stuff on this one!

Next up is Babylon System, who released their banging “Hyphy” EP. The backflip Get On Up starts with some nice reggae sounds and builds up to a big heavy rhythm!
The other track Dancin’ Shoes is little bit older (dates from 2007), but still gets me goin’. Again they use their signature style: reggae vibes followed by heavy bass action.

I’ve been playing G Funk-3000 on repeat the last couple of days. You might know XI from some of his remixes of hip hop/gangsta rap (which are a lot darker). G Funk-3000 is much more mellow and groovy, I love it!

Belgian electro producer/DJ Modek sent us his latest production. Apparantly he started making dubstep under his new alias The Stint. I’m really impressed with his brand new remix of an oldskool Neophyte hardcore tune. On top of this he made a video clip using parts of horror classic Poltergeist!

This next track by Excision is for those who like it really heavy (I warned you!). Excision is everyware these days and I like it!

Someone every dubstep fanatic knows is this fella, Benga. His album “Diary Of An Afro Warrior” was very well received, and he kept making fresh tunes since then. Rockstar is a new one and I must say he made another big one!

Those of you who remember Hangover know what this next guy is capable of! Also, he’s already got support from Benga, Caspa, Crookers, Datsik and many more. He recently released an EP with Ollie featuring two original tracks (one from Bare Noize and one from Ollie) and with both remixing each others tracks.
