Time for something new …

Okay, this is it (legendary Michael Jackson quote, aw yeah!), I have thought about this for a long time, but I have decided to stop “blogging” on gethypedonthis.com (Please, continue reading!). The last 2 years have come with a lot of ups and downs in time and interest for blogging about music. I keep saying to myself “it’s time to get active again!” but I always fail to maintain a good post ratio which started to leave a mark on the general website, making it less interesting for people to regulalry visit (in the end, that was my goal).

So where the biggest issue is the lack of time there is also social media and multiple new platforms bringing music to the audience in such a more fast and more effective way compared to a music blog which is only being updated maximum once an evening. We want to discover and hear new music, but we lately prefer to see it in the platforms we are already using. At least, that’s how I feel it and that’s how I, myself, want to do it as well. I was losing so much time looking for bloggable stuff that I started missing out on the whole music experience itself (I was looking for music to blog about it, not to listen and enjoy it and that’s was what was bothering me).

Is this really THE end? NO! I’m still enjoying music, I will still check many feeds and platforms to keep myself up to date, I will keep enjoying Dj’ing, even in my own bedroom, but I’m not going to maintain a blog about it any more. I will keep posting stuff on my facebook page and on my twitter feed, but for the website the approach will not be a blog any more, but something completely different. I’m still brainstorming on some aspects, but the general idea is there and I’m hoping to launch this at the start of Spring this year. The main idea will be to integrate many different feeds and platforms in to one page. So I can push content from my platforms (soundcloud,youtube,facebook, etc etc) directly to the website (more on that soon).

Hope you all enjoyed my blog for the last 5 years and hope you will all keep following me on the social networks. Big thanks to all people that have supported me and the blog (got some real cool experiences out of this blog).

Shut Up (Sound of Stereo Remix)

The boys have something to celebrate! 50.000 likes and 8000 followers. The Sound of Stereo ship is still sailing strong. As a token of appreciation they are sharing the remix they recently did for Proxy‘s “Shut Up”. The strong electro rave original gets polished to a more clubby, laidback vibe (I’m completely lacking inspiration today). Anyway, it’s my favorite from the Shut Up remixes and even my favorite from the latest Sound of Stereo productions.

Some time ago the Crookers split up. Phra continued under the crookers name and continued producing music in the same line. Bot on the other hand locked himself in a studio for three months and now sees the daylight again with a whole bunch of new productions. Nothing in the line of crookers though (well atleast not 100%), but what people lately like to call future techo. Interested in the result? Have a listen to this 24 minute teaser mix.

Nathaniel – An Introduction To 2013

Anyone remember Hector & Nate? I think I did post or two about these guys like 2 years ago when they were releasing some stuff on the Belgian “Monkey See Monkey Do” label. Hector and Nate both went their own way and this last one is now doing some pretty cool stuff as “Nathaniel”. If you’re into house music you will find what you’re looking for in this mixtape.

Light Year gets above it.

One of the best releases of 2012 was without a doubt from Sydney based producer “Light Year“. The Moderation EP swept many people of their feets. Really looking forward to what he will bring in 2013 and to get everybody interested he’s sharing an interesting edit of “Tame Impala – Be Above It”. It comes over a bit rough at the beginning but it’s probably hard to find the right balance between a electronic rave track and alterantive rock music like this (I also think the mastering of the track could have been better, but I’m not an expert on that area). Extra bonus, a full length mixtape as well!

Not many of you guys probably missed this. I had an early day the day after this big boiler room event so I had to hook off pretty early. Finally the first podcasts from this evening are only. Boys Noize, Gesaffelstein and Modeselektor for now, hoping to see Brodinski podcast soon as well. If you can look passed the anoying hipsters you can also enjoy the footage from Boys Noize his set above! Big up, once again, Boiler Room!

Four Tet – 0181

The blogosphere and twitter were all over this new Four Tet release, unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to listen to it at work, so finally home, finally having a listen, … wow! It’s a LP filled with a variaty of productions Four Tet did between 1997 and 2001. Stream it, download it, Enjoy it.

Whitesquare

Whitesquare is an Italian producer with a love for deep house. He has made some fine bootlegs in the past, which you can download for free on his Facebook profile. Check out his take on Joy Orbison’s “Hyph Mongo” and I’m sure you’ll be convinced of his producing skills.

Baskerville – Synth Coke

Dutch duo Baskerville is doing well for them self. After their first release on the sublabel BNR TRAX “Priam” they now have a second release coming very soon AND they are added to the Boysnoize booking roster. To celebrate all of this they are sharing their unreleased “Synth Coke” as a free download. The track really reminds of the good old “electro days”. The guys have been around for some time now (can find a post dating back to 2009), explaining the old school electro vibe they are still carrying with them! Don’t forget to keep an eye open for their new BNR TRAX release!
