Loving the stuff coming from Santigold these days. Studio Brussel is playing the new Spank Rock ft. Santigold “Car Song” frequently which always get me in a good mood. The new Spank Rock album, which is produced by Boys Noize, is also worth checking out by the way! Back to Santigold, her latest single “Big Mounth” got produced by Switch and Buraka Som Sistema, this second one I guessed immediately after listening to the first 10 seconds, you’ll get why. What the hell am I still bringing up? Right? Well I heard this remix some time before the original became popular with the big audience here in Belgium and I immediately fell in love with it. The original is amazing but his remix adds just a small subtle dance flavor to it. Vocals haven’t been touched at all which is the way it should be. So for all those who love love love the original but just need a small refreshment, grab this one and it will get you going again. Big up Gotye, your music is amazing and big up Bibio for bringing a nice respectful remix without breaking down the original sound! Oh, and the raining background sound works very well on a rainy night like we are having here right now!

Little Dragon was a new name for me, but her voice … not so new. That’s probably because she is the featured vocal artist on SBTRKT’s track “Wildfire”. Reading a lot about her music now and days but haven’t got around checking her album, but it’s most definitely on my to-hear list! Another new artist is the mysterious “Close” who remixed Little Dragon’s “Crystalfilm”, he also has a debut album coming up, but maybe more on that later. Now it’s time to enjoy this relaxed, deep track with such warm vocals by Little Dragon.

Bullet Train

I stumbled on this cool compilation package called ‘Bullet Train Volume 2′, the producers representing it are rather unknown to me, but then again I’m not in the whole dubstep scene. Marco Del Horno and Last Japan are the ones presenting this Bullet Train volume 2 compilation. The tracks go from Funky to Garage to Grime to Dubstep to DnB and everything inbetween, who cares about tempos/scenes/genres right? Hope you enjoy this as much as I do without even knowing what you’re listening to!

I Love Techno 2011 CD mixed by CASSIUS

I Love Techno tonight! Time to get siked and which way better than with the official mix cd. After last years Steve Aoki mix the honours went to Cassius this year. Cassius is probably best known for tracks as “My Feelings For You”, “The Sound Of Violence”, “I <3 U So”, and so on! The tracklisting is very interesting and is too my surprise less “commercial” then I expected, lots of producers that haven’t reached the big audience yet, but of course we see a Boys Noize track, etc pass by. My favourite part of the mix is probably the opening track “DJ Mehdi – Pocket Piano”, let’s hope we’ll be hearing a lot of Mehdi tracks tonight, damn I miss that guy! I Love Techno 2011 mix cd by Cassius is now available on iTunes, so get it now and get ready for I LOVE TECHNOOO!

Dems – House

Bad Life records is on a roll! We got the re-invented autoKratz on the label, the new EP ‘Payne’ by NT89 and after all that ‘future techno’ violence they now signed a band. Dems is a trio from London creating soulful synth pop. Their debut EP is called “House” and has deep beats, dreamy guitar riffs and vocals that will cut right through you! We have the Jean Nipon remix as a free download which I probably find even more amazing as the original, awesome sound without losing the essential of the original, big up! Coming digitally and on limited 7” vinyl, from November 14th through Bad Life.

Dems – House (Jean Nipon Remix)

New Look

Okay, so this week I’ve been listening to the Jamie XX essential mix for like probably the 100th time and so it was time to check out some of the tracks individually. The first one from the mix that got stuck in my head was “Jean Jacques Smoothie – 2 People” an old classic that scored big in Belgium, check out the clip here (not as good as the track, by far!). Now this next track also has a very old school vibe, but is actually rather new! New look is formed by the couple Sarah Ruba and Adam Pavao who are based in New York. The track you hear from them in Jamie XX’s essential mix is called “Janet”. Fader (a blog where I picked this up this MP3) describes the tracks with a cold groove and soulful warm vocals. Perfect description. Enjoy this track, I know you will! Now I’m off to discover what more “New Look” has to offer!

WIN: I LOVE TECHNO 2011

On 12 November Ghent will be ready again for Techno madness! Well … techno? There’s been a lot of complaints by die hard fans that there isn’t enough techno music at I Love Techno these days. But hey, music is constantly evolving and that’s what’s great about it! And if you know a thing or two about music you can see some pretty good techno names if you want too. Looking forward to this one, be sure to check back after the event, I’m hoping to do some coverage afterwards!
