Bass Music Sessions
March 5th, 2010 | Hyped by Jack Herror
About a month ago, bass music producers I.D. and Baobinga informed us through their blog there would be a new album release very soon. Not that special, if it weren’t that the album would be completely free to download. While I’m a big fan of these guys’ productions this was some really great news. The good thing is that it’s not just the typical ‘free-album-filled-with-leftovers’. It’s real quality music supported by DJs like Claude VonStroke, DJ Friction, Buraka Som Sistema, TRG and Untold. Some big names indeed.
To get the hype started, they’ve been blogging about the whole ‘free album-process’ for about a month now, and they even made a promo-vid as a preview of the album.
Looks great, doesn’t it? I strongly advise you to download this album! They also gave you the option to give a donation (like Radiohead did with their album “In Rainbows”) to Dove House Hospice in Hull, UK.
Apart from the new album, I.D. also made a mixtape for thisisbreaks.com. It’s his perspective on “where next for ‘breaks’ music – i.e. incorporate loads of funky, 2-step, ragga, dubstep and everything else that’s got funk and interesting beats.”

Roska has some things in the pipeline for us. Expect his debut album on the 4th of April. Before that there will be an EP release March 27th.
Bonus:
As a bonus I’ll leave you guys with this banging remix by Jokers Of The Scene, released on Kitsuné. The remix builds op slowly, kind of like in a techno tune. The second breakdown and drop around 5 minutes is definitely where it’s at! Buy the EP with another great remix by Boy 8 Bit on it, at Beatport or JunoDownload

January 21st, 2010 | Hyped by Jack HerrorJust found this interesting interview with Martyn for On-Point TV, posted at Phase02. Martyn is a Dutch producer who originated as a drum & bass DJ, but currently prefers making quality dubstep. His critically acclaimed LP “Great Lengths” was definitely one of the highlights of 2009! After checking out “Natural Selection”, you can buy it here.
Also, the mix he recorded for the famous Fabric series was released this month (he mixed it live, although it not being part of the FabricLive series). For more info about the CD go to the official Fabric website.
The other tune is a nice tech house rework of “Elden St” by Sebo K.

Digital Love
January 17th, 2010 | Hyped by REDNIKFeeling a bit mellow today, been studying for two weeks now and I still got two weeks to go! At the end of those days you’re not looking for some heavy trash electro or wobbly fidget but a nice relaxing tune. Hypem Popular is always a good list for new good music, not only electro and stuff, but good covers and alternative music as well. A cover that caught my attention was the number one of Hypem Popular yesterday: Alphabeat – Digital Love (Daft Punk Cover). It was featured on etmusiquepourtous.com , amazing blog! Very relaxing cover, totally made my day! On top is of course the video for the timeless original track! ♥
