Massive Mixtape Action

May 20th, 2010 | Hyped by EJECT!

I can’t believe how many mixtapes were sent to us lately, maybe it has to do something with Summer coming closer?

The first one is from Mightyfools, they recently finished their first EP entitled “That’s The Shit” on Lektroluv Records. What better way than to celebrate this with a new mixtape filled with exclusive tracks and ofcourse tracks from their new EP:

Mightyfools – That’s The Shit Mixtape 2010 by lektroluvrecords

Next mixtape is from Highbloo, also a resident Lektroluv Records producer with something new coming up. His latest remix “Schlachthofbronx – Ayoba (Highbloo Remix)” has been featured in Discobelle’s “Turned On Vol. 1″ compilation” which you can check here. If you would like to listen to a mixtape from Highbloo himself just check his latest mixtape:

Highbloo – The Fat! Club Mix 007 by The Fat! Club on Mixcloud

A-Trak has also been causing some attention on the internet with his second “Dirty South Dance” Mixtape. Many of you guys are waiting for it for 3 years now so if you haven’t heard it yet, here’s your chance!

With Shaved Monkeys still in the back of my head, Soda & Suds this time had the honor to mix the 29th OMGITM Supermix. They’ve crunched in as many self-made remixes and tracks and a lot of exclusive tracks. Definitely worth giving a listen:

Soda ‘n’ Suds – OH MY GOD ITS TECHNO MUSIC Supermix 29 by Soda ‘n’ Suds

Aeroplane got a lot of attention with their 500th Essential Mix on Radio 1 (check here) but let’s not forget the usual mixtapes they make. This excellent mixtape is perfect for waking up on a summer’s day with the sun shining right on your face.

Last but not least is a mixtape from Blatta & Inesha, recorded for Burn Paris Burn. I’m really loving the intro in this one, apparently Blatta & Inesha, Paul (One half of Mustard Pimp) and Darcy recorded something special after drinking a few too many wodka shots.

Chill Sessions #4

Yours truly is looking at 3 weeks of holiday, starting tomorrow! I couldn’t help but thinking about the tunes I’ll be blastin’ through the speakers tomorrow… I decided to pick some of those tracks and post ‘em up here.

A-Trak did a great job mashing up Lil Wayne’s “Fireman” with a reggae tune by Richie Spice. The reggae beat coming from “Youths Dem Cold” (video) adds a nice summer vibe to the vocals.

Lil’ Wayne – Fireman So Cold (A-Trak Remix)

Another great reggae influenced track is “Dub Rock” by Alix Perez, who’s gave the genre a drum & bass treatment. If you like artists like Benny Page or Visionary, I’m pretty sure you’ll like this one too! Alix Perez is currently based in North London, but he’s originally from Belgium (Charleroi if I’m not mistaking).

Alix Perez – Dub Rock

For the next tune he worked together with Sabre, also living in London. This intelligent piece of music samples an old 70s jazz fusion record made by Billy Cobham (listen to “Heather” here). The bassline and keyboards fit perfectly with the vocals and drum & bass beat. I also included a hip hop classic by Souls Of Mischief, also sampling that very keyboard.

Alix Perez & Sabre – Solitary Native

Souls Of Mischief – From ’93 Till Infinity

Another drum & bass track. The legendary D.Kay did a collaboration with Concept. Together they’ve created a very warm tune with old school horns and some great house vocals on top of it. Sound like an anthem to me.

D.Kay & Concept – For Love Or Money

Last but not least: The Glitch Mob. With their combination of broken hip hop beats and glitchy synths, they gained a lot of popularity lately. Their latest single is called “Drive It Like You Stole It”. The first time they really got my attention was when I heard their incredible remake of Nalepa’s “Monday”.

Heads Will Roll (A-Trak remix)

October 19th, 2009 | Hyped by REDNIK

I wasn’t very familiar with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before I checked their latest album “It’s Blitz”. I instantly fell in love with their music mainly because of the brilliant vocals done by leadsinger Karen O. One of the best tracks and also the new single of the album is “Heads Will Roll”. Brilliant rock song that needed that little touch so we could play it for our dance audiance and who’s better fit for the job then DJ A-Trak himself? The remix turned up as I hoped, fitting nicely in any dj set without the lyrics and the unique voice of Karen getting lost.

Vitalic‘s new album Flashmob is a must for all you dance/music lovers! Take a look at the video clip for his new single Poison Lips. The vocals remind me of his first album OK Cowboy, which for me was one of the best dance albums… ever.

Then there’s the new Drums Of Death single…

… And an interview with Armand Van Helden and DJ Mehdi, who were doing some dj-sets together.

As you probably already know, A-Trak recently teamed up with Armand Van Helden as Duck Sauce. They just made the latest mix cd for Mixmag. It’s filled with funky disco house. I’ll give you a preview: the first 3 tracks of the mix.

Duck Sauce – aNYway

July 19th, 2009 | Hyped by GetHypedOnThis

Duck Sauce is a collaboration project between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden. And knowing what these two artists already produced and accomplished you can already guess this track is the bomb. This track is in my opinion THE track of this years summer. Not playing this one in your sets this summer is pure madness!
