X-mas track-gift extravaganza!

I’m a bit late with my christmas (or w/e) post, but it’s that time of year a lot of producers decide to give away free tracks. I’ve been saving up all (or most of them) for this post. I’m not going to describe every track in this post, that’s something I’ll spend my time on for the top 10 list. Digitalism – Taken Away (LAZRtag remix)

A new remix by LAZRtag, a electro/house producing duo from LA, California. The track they remixed is none less then the newest single/track or whatever from Digitalism. I only know the original track from the website of Mercedes GLK series where it is used as soundtrack for a commercial video (http://www.mercedes-glk.com/), but I didn’t hear much more about it afterworths. Back to the remix then. LAZRtag kept the original sound but overlayed it with some heavier beats/flanger sounds, a typical remix for LAZRtag, the only thing that bothers me is the very moaning vocals from Yence, but that’s ofcourse part of the original track. If you like this remix, I suggest you check LAZRtags myspace, almost every remix they made is free for download!

Track-Mania

Hmmm, it’s time to get me posting again. The first week of school absorbed quite a lot of time which kept me from blogging. But I’m about to make it up to all our thrusty visitors, so I present a new Track-Mania with some hyped up tracks. For this Track-Mania I actually focused on the just released CD from Dr. Lektroluv , Live at pukkelpop 2008. Because this still isn’t a warez forum/blog or whatever I selected some tracks from the set, instead of posting the ripped CD. Here are some of my favourites of Lektroluv’s newest set.

Lektroluv’s set starts of rather “hard” but that’s what we like and what we maybe didn’t expect from the docter himself. A lot of new tracks for me and very fidget? sounding, if you’d ask me. So first of, one of my favourite tracks on the set.
Machines Don’t Care – Beat Bang

Then of to another fidget like track by one of my favourite producers of the moment, The Count of Monte Cristal aka Hervé. Very addictive sound with some nice vocal/slower samles to keep it a alive.

Of to an artist I never heard of before, but isn’t sounding bad at all. It fits right in to the typical style and track choice we expect from Dr. Lektroluv.

Now back to a more familiar artist, Isi. … What, doesn’t ring any bells ? Well he’s only the second half of Digitalism. A great remix by this guy from Hey Today! a duo from Germany, who are also on the Kitsuné label on which this remix was released.

And last, but not least, The Subs. Probably the most succesfull belgium artist at the moment. With a lot of live performances on the last summer festivals. The track, Papillon, has been out for a rather long time now, but I still thought it was worth posting and so, maybe some visitors from other country’s could have a go with it!

Rock Werchter 2008

Rock Werchter, a 4 day festival in Belgium, known in the whole world for his perfect organisation. The festival is mainly a rock festival but it has some good dance/electro names this year, I’ll only review these names, because we are still an electro blog.

Thursday 03/07

Shameboy, our Belgian duo. With the release of their second album they had some more “playing room”. They played a varried set with tracks from the new and old album. We got the Shameboy sound we expected, but too bad they didn’t really mixed the tracks together … , we have the liveset ! so you can listen for yourself. Download it right here

Soulwax, … wow. The third time I saw them, but this show absolutely blew me away. A mixture of their own tracks and own remixes all blended into one whole banging set!

And to end the evening the two Dewaele brothers (better known as 2manydj’s) played a dj-set. They started off very good with some more commercial tracks and more “underground” tracks like , fake blood – mars . But towards the ending their mixing became a bit messy, I guess they were getting tired or something, but hey, I can’t blame them.

Friday 04/07

Not much electro/dance that day, two names: Digitalism and Moby.

I didn’t watch Digitalism till the end , because Moby started around halfway through the set. So I went off pretty early at Digitalism, but good news, the set is recorded and you can download it right here.

Moby, didn’t played a djset, but instead a big liveshow with normal instruments, vocal singer(what a voice!) and of course Moby himself. Moby played all his hits and the more slower songs were reinvented into a dance version, somewhat like the moby remixes album.

Sunday 06/07

Justice, as expected. A liveset with most of their own tracks and a remix or 2, 3 … . The overall set was good, but the marquee was really packed with people and the screaming and shouting even came over the music now and then. “Because we … are … your friends … you’ll … never be alone again !”
