August 26th, 2010 | Hyped by REDNIK

First of all, thank you Tuff Em Up Records and Trashbags Kids for hooking me up with some cool promo stuff!

Now let’s start first with a remix competition coming from Tuff Em Up Records. Producers from all over the world can start remixing DJ ANTENTION – Rapid Fire. The winner chosen for the remix competition will receive a set of WESC Headphones of their choice to the value of $400 and some Apparel from our sponsors 2BOP CLOTHING, and to have your remix, on DJ Antention’s first EP release on TUFFEM UP Records titled “RAPID FIRE EP”, which will be released in December.

Get the parts of Rapid Fire right here: Rapid Fire stems

The remix competition closes on November 10th all submissions are to be sent to: diego@tuffemup.com

Next, let’s talk about the first compilation CD of Tuff Em Up Records which is mixed by GTRONIC and Nadisko. You know how these two sound in general? Well just expect a CD full of this madness mixed perfectly together. The CD includes tracks as The Oddword – Kortelas (VNNR Remix), Dj ANTENTION – Go, Gtronic – Sucker Punch, Polymorphic – Rock On, The Mould – Getto, and so on! Heavy heavy stuff! And big up for the artwork as well!

Thanks to our good friend Gtronic I’m able to give away 3 of these cd’s, unfortunally this small competition will be limited to our Belgian followers, sorry guys! Maybe in the future some global competitions!

“In welk land is Tuff Em Up Records ‘gevestigd’?”

en als shiftingsvraag:

“Hoeveel fotos/muziek (geef totaal) hebben wij in onze Media Library van wordpress? niet alle fotos/mp3′s die je ziet zijn altijd opgenomen in de library!”

TWO YEARS!

April 8th, 2010 | Hyped by REDNIK

Hooray! It’s our birthday! That’s right, you favourite blog has already been spreading hypes onto the world wide web for two years now. We started as a lame, one out of the thousand, blogspot blog and grew to become one of the best known blogs in Belgium (and maybe even further!). We aren’t done expanding, along with Jack Herror and EJECT! we are constantly looking for ways to get some exclusive and fresh content going. What to expect in our year number three? More music, more mixtapes, more interviews, more videos, more hypes and we are already making plans for some cool GetHypedOnThis goodies as stickers and Tshirts. AND! if everything goes as planned the first GetHypedOnThis party could be a fact before the end of this year! Stay tuuuned

Last but not least I want to thank: Jack Herror and EJECT! for the input into the blog and keeping things going along with me! All the artists and labels that sent us all that fresh content. AOOA.TV for the hot and exclusive party videos! All the Belgian (and non-Belgian of course!) artists that have shown support as we supported them and last but not least all you fans and daily readers that appreciate our posts! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

15 Seconds

February 7th, 2010 | Hyped by REDNIK

A time ago it seemed like we posted a GTRONIC track every single week! It’s been while now though, so I thought the next GTRONIC promo would be a good share. It’s a remix for aUtOdiDakT ft. RQM – 15 seconds, it’s been going around in the Belgian dj scene for quite a while now, and now finally on your favourite blog! The track starts off with some cool vocal work and then completely plunges into a raw crunching track, typical for GTRONIC’s producing style.

TOP 10 BIGGEST HYPES – REDNIK

December 30th, 2009 | Hyped by REDNIK

After EJECT! and Jack Herror posted the top 10 producers and tracks of 2009 I decided to tackle the third and final top 10 list: The Top 10 Biggest Hypes of 2009! There were a lot of hypes in 2009, some annoying, some hard to resist, some deserved, some not and so on. I’ll try explaining as good as possible why I picked these tracks/artists/genres as the biggest hypes of 2009, but I’m absolutely sure, the position and even the fact if they were a hype or not, are discussable. So, please don’t hold back in the comments!

#1. Warp (The Bloody Beetroots)

I think the reason for this first position is rather clear. Warp was probably the most played track at the general electro partys. Even though the most critical followers of the genre said it to be a cheap rip-off of Dominator by the Human Resources, everyone tagged along and happily screamed “WOOP WOOP” followed by chaotic “jumping around”. The “sample” wasn’t probably milked out enough so The Bloody Beetroots came with a successor Warp 1977, which is even filthier … but the same. (I’ll have to admit, in the end … I’m still not sick of it) My favourite version/remix still is:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The Bloody Beetroots ft Steve Aoki – Warp 1.9 (GTRONIC BadAssRMX)

#2. Pon De Floor (Major Lazer)

Now this is a hype, I am sick of listening too! Pon De Floor was probably the biggest “dance” hit this summer. And because there was a remix competition going on around Pon De Floor there was an endless flood of remixes aswel. Even now it still gets played. Last week at Soulwaxmas I heard it twice and still people go absolutely crazy on this one. I was hoping this hype would have ended before 2010?

Major Lazer – Pon De Floor (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

#3. Crookers

The Crookers scored very well in my opinion with their latest freebies “We Love Animals” ft Soulwax and Mixhell (even though I doubt the fact that the Crookers had a lot of input into that track) and “No Security” ft Kelis. Before those tracks the next track we remember is probably their Day N Nite remix. Even though it was a remix of 2008 the biggest hype came early 2009. The remix got his own videoclip and was played everywhere : radio, tv, partys around the corner,… . I remember that I even made a post about how sick I was about hearing the crookers everywhere. I posted the original version by Kid Cudi which still is f-ing good:

Kid Cudi – Day N Nite (Nightmare)

#4. Bonkers (Dizzee Rascal ft. Armand Van Helden)

Bo.. bo … bo bo bo BONKERS! Same story as with Pon De Floor actually. Massive summerhit and still a track even 2manydj’s throws in their djset (a personal edit of course). Actually I should have put Dizzee Rascal himself on place 4 instead of Bonkers, because he scored a lot of hits this year: Dance Wiv Me, Holiday, Dirty Cash. Dance Wiv Me and Holiday were btw both a cooperation with Calvin Harris who we’ll see later on in the top 10.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Dizzee Rascal – Bonkers (Doorly Remix)

#5. Riverside (Sidney Samson)

RIVERSIDE MOTHERF*CKER!

Sidney Samson – Riverside (Tc Remix) – Deleted on request

#6. La Roux

Probably the biggest fresh artist of this year. The first time we got in contact with La Roux was Quicksand on the Kitsuné Maison compilation (nr6 if I recall well). But it wasn’t until the Skream let’s get ravey remix of “In For The Kill” the bigger audience got to know La Roux. Massive, massive dub-step track with the breath taking vocal work by La Roux leadsingster Elly (Eleanor) Jackson. Bulletproof which was actually the second single (before In For The Kill) scored very well in the hitcharts.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

La Roux – In For The Kill (Skream Lets Get Ravey Remix)

#7. Dubstep

Dubstep gained a lot of popularity in 2009. Mainly because of the remixes of the more commercial tracks. I then am thinking about remixes as: Bonkers (Doorly Remix), In For The Kill (Skream let’s get ravey Remix), Warrior’s Dance (Benga Remix) who even were on one of the latest compilations of Studio Brussel. It’s also since this year that we started posting dub-step mainly thanks to the addition of Jack Herror to the team.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Parker – Wheres My Monkey

#8. Miike Snow

My favourite hype of 2009: Miike Snow! Where the hell did he come from? I don’t know, but there he was with is song called Animal, a real feel good track. And soon the first remixes came, I think Animal had more then 7 remixes (Treasure Fingers, Crookers, Fake Blood, …), love it! Then another popular track was Black & Blue remixed by Tiga, Savage Skulls, Netsky … all banging remixes of which Savage Skulls remix is my personal favourite. For some of the other remixes I would like to refer to RCRDLBL who has a lot of them available for download.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Miike Snow – Black & Blue (Savage Skulls Remix)

#9. Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris is someone who has been around longer then most people think, but with his latest album “Ready For The Weekend” he gained some serious popularity with the commercial crowds. Not Alone and Ready For The Weekend knew a big success in the hitcharts. He also was producer for artists as Dizzee Rascal and Kylie Minogue. I first wanted to post something of his older album “I Created Disco”, but because I bet some of you guys were missing the High Contrast Remix of Ready For The Weekend in The Hoax mixtape best DnB tracks of 2009:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Calvin Harris – Ready For The Weekend (High Contrast Remix)

#10. Dutch House / Dirty House

I’m not following the genre at the moment, but it was without a doubt a big year for the Dutchies. Afrojack scored more then once and his remix of another Dutch producer/dj Dj Chuckie with Moombah was a big hit this summer. Laidback Luke created a hype with his cooperation with Lee Mortimer “Blau” of which the release got delayed more then once. And there are still many more Dutch producers I should be naming here, like these guys:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Gramophonedzie – Why Don’t You (Bingo Players Remix)

And this was probably my biggest post ever … Feel free to discuss and even criticise this top 10 list. Oh, yeah, massive respect for you guys who read the whole thing! ♥

As you all probably know, beatbouncers are releasing a new EP called Youth Control. The track itself is a little bit older but they made a more up to date remix. Other great names who remixed this track are: Gtronic, Serial Chillers, The deficient and Dj Barletta. It is set to release 28th of December.

Die (GTRONIC DubDub Rmx)

October 2nd, 2009 | Hyped by REDNIK

Gtronic was so nice to send us his remix for “Die” from Trash Yourself (their myspace is giving me a headache!) & The Toxic Avenger. Gtronic added his typicall wobbly sound to the ravy trash sound of the original, THE perfect combo I would say. Gtronic is on a roll and is even going on an Australian tour next week with Trashbags!

Interview GTRONIC

August 24th, 2009 | Hyped by GetHypedOnThis

With an Australian tour coming up and his tracks being played everywhere GTRONIC is one of Belgium’s newest producers to finally break through. Check the interview and see how he feels about all this:

INTERVIEW GTRONIC

What got you into producing music? And why the trash, rave genre?

When I was tired being ‘just another dj’, I wanted to use my music knowledge in a creative way. So I started experimenting with Reason, Cubase, Fruityloops etc. I just love to hang out in my music studio, searching for crazy distortion sounds. I try to find my own sound, and spend a lot of time in fine tuning. Trash, rave, wobbly, pumping, heavy basses,… I just love it.
Put me in a minimal room, and I’ll drop dead hehe

We know you did a remix for Beatbouncers’ newest EP (which is nice btw) but what have you planned for the future?
Well, I’m trying to make new remixes as much as possible.
I just finished 2 remixes:
- Soda n Suds – We do it again (GTRONIC duck&slide rmx)
- Robot Disaster – Boy (GTRONIC chilin’ in the studio rmx)
Further remixes planned:
- NT89 & Distrakt – Pumping
- Autodidakt – 15 seconds
- Devnik – Concrete
- ….
With these remixes I can experiment in other synth sounds and track structures.
Working with new samples and trying to create a solid EP for other artists,
that’s why I love to do this.
And it’s also a good way to promote your name…

Your track Iron Man is going all over the world right now thanks to the bloody beetroots. How did you react when they played your track? Or did you already got a reaction from them before they dropped it at 7Years CC?
It all happened on the day after 7Years CC!!
Fuck, I almost had a tear of happiness.
I saw the video on facebook. 2 hours later I received an email of Bob Rifo with his compliments. Damn, I still can’t believe it hehe.

In some of your tracks you have that typical gtronic sound like in your remix of foamo and Iron Man. When and how did you create it?
Mmm, difficult question.
When: During the 2 years I’m producing.
How: Can’t tell you this, sry hehe.
It was worth asking ^^
I see you have an Australian Tour coming up. Can you give us some more information about it?
Well, I don’t have further details on the tour. The organisation is still waiting for gig confirmations. Tour date: 16th oct to 26th oct. I’ll be playing on 4/5 events.

How are you preparing for such a trip? What are you bringing along?
Everything will be organised by Trashbags Touring Agency.
I just need to prepare a good DJ set. That’s why I made this track ‘Destroyer’.
I had to create a ‘wicked’ own intro hehe

Are there any other countries you would really like to spin at? Why?
Uhm, I want to see the whoooole fucking world! These life experiences are awesome.
That’s why I love to produce so much. I chill out in my music studio, creating some beats, and then go around the world to play them.
I want to do this for the rest of my life!

Which artist should we interview next? Why does he deserve it?

Mmmmm, I know a lot of good guys who deserves to be interviewed.
I would say: Look into my top friends on myspace.
These guys I support the most…
