Shameboy 2010

Early 2010 Jimmy Dewit said goodbye to Shameboy and was replaced by Dominik Friede. I’m still a fan of Shameboy’s early work but I really like where their sound is going now. Unlike in the early days, Shameboy is also doing a ton of remixes. One of these remixes they did was for “Kelis – Acapella”. It was an unofficial one but lead to their latest official one: “Kelis – Scream” after the management of Kelis really liked the “bootleg” they did.

Some other remixers on this track are LARiots and AL-P from MSTRKRFT if I remember correctly from their interview on stubru yesterday. Anyway, check out a small minimix with 4 upcoming remixes by Shameboy and the video on top is a live perfromance at Pukkelpop 2010 playing their latest own production “Battery Acid”.

Acapella

I’m digging a lot of commercial tv/radio hits recently. Too name a few: I’m thinking of tracks as Rihanna’s Rude Boy, Ellie Goulding’s Starry Eyed and I would even go as far as to say 3OH!3′s Starstrukk is god damn catchy (yes, you know I’m right!). But one that jumped out for me lately is the new single of Kelis called “Acapella”. We probably all know Kelis from her dirty/sluttish track “Milkshake”, but the Kelis we are seeing in this new single has more content and feels so much more mature. Acapella is the first single of here upcoming album “Flesh Tone” which is produced by David Guetta (what is he NOT producing or co-working on these days?).

A thing which almost every time happens with popular commercial tracks … they get remixed! With this song it ain’t different, Maximus/Baxter jumped on the job and delivered an amazing dubstep-like banger. They sent me two versions of their remix, one with vocals, one without. Obviously my favourite is the one with vocals, you’ll hear why!

Crookers feat. Kelis – No Security (Bart B More Remix)

Bart B More, one of the best producers of the Netherlands, recently remixed Crookers latest track “No Security”. I was fed up with all the remixes that were worse than the original so I must admit that I didn’t have high hopes for this one. Luckily I was wrong, he gave the track his original trademark which perfectly fits in with the vocals.

Dubstep like?

Dubstep is getting extremly popular these days. Even a lot of electo/fidgethouse/… dj’s are throwing in some dubstep records in their sets. But Dubstep is not new to everyone, Crookers are old school when we are talking about dubstep (atleast I think so …), their latest free share is this banging dubstep like track “No Security” with the sexy vocals from Kelis, love it! Another dubstep/drumnbass track I bumped into on RCRDLBL.com is a remix from MEGA by Camo UFOs, rather basic but it does the trick.
