Millenium Disco Volume 2

Oh my f*** god. Put on those disco shoes because Shiny Disco Club is back with a nu-disco, french house compilation. The great thing about the first version was that it was completely free and crazy enough so is this second volume! The compilation features tracks from artists as Louis La Roche, The Phantoms Revenge, Vanguard, Quinten909 and so on! Totally my cup of tea and probably on my playlist for the next year. The download is not active yet, it will be featured for download tomorrow (I’ll give you guys an update on twitter and facebook), but you can already start listening to the tracks below. Big up to Shiny Disco Club for pulling together a complete free compilation like this!

*update!* The soundcloud is available for download, or if you want to easily download the complete package:

I Still Love You (Louis La Roche Remix)

My favourite UK based French house producer ‘Louis La Roche‘ shared a new remix for free. The original track ‘I Still Love You’ is from Switch mostely active as one half of Major Lazer these days. Louis La Roche turned into a Nu-Disco track with probably more chicago house influences then I have knowledge of! Chicago House + soulful RnB vocals by Andrea Martin = WIN some might say!

Millenium Disco

Wow, I haven’t even listened to the complete album yet, but when reading this tracklist you just know this is one killer compilation and the most amazing thing of all it’s completely free! It’s filled with disco house tracks by some of the best producers in that area: Bit Funk, Moonchild, Louis La Roche, Overthrill, Xinobi and so on! The free compilation is released by Shiny Disco Club Records. I’ll try uploading the complete zip file tomorrow but you can already get all the separate tracks from soundcloud. (credits go to Chemical Jump for posting this first!)

Bright Light Bright Light

When reading the words “Bright Light” two times, my mind immediately says/thinks Gizmo! For those who know don’t know what I’m talking about watch the movie: Gremlins! Seriously! Apparently “Bright Light Bright Light” is also the name a dude from Wales UK gives himself, and he seems to be very popular over there. Here in Belgium, I never heard of him … but what interested me the most is the remix Louis La Roche (my alltime French House producer, even though he isn’t from France!) made for his latest single “Love Part II”. What a funky track yet again from this guy, Summer ain’t over! … as long as you keep playing this track!

I’ve been missing you

It’s been a rather sad Spring in Belgium so far, cold, not much sun, rain … but things are starting to look better if we may believe our “loved” weatherman over here. So let’s get some soundtracks going on. Props go out to Chemical Jump who posted the first two way ahead of me.

First up a track by Louis La Roche that I first heard in this eeuhm … dj set from … euhmm … some time ago. Almost forgot about it and then it suddenly popped up in Chemical Jump’ latest post. The track is called “Missing you” and combines some funky hot beats with some top notch rnb vocal work by Ad Apt. Brilliant as always from our french house/new disco god!

When Pharell appeared in a short video with our favourite yellow friend Flat Eric it was easy guessing that he would feature in a production of Mr. Oizo. He produced the debut album of Uffie where we indeed bump into Pharell for the track Add Suv. That album will be released the 14th of June by the way. Add Suv was hot on the blogs and so is this Armand Van Helden remix. I’m rather happy that he left the harder beats, like in his Memories remix, behind.

And I’m ending with a track that already had his release December last year. It was on the Shorties EP from an American based duo Swivel Hips. The track is called “Smell My Fingers”, it’s not the best track on the EP (you should definitely check out Cheaters and No Future For You) but it pretty much describers the setting of this amazing EP. I’m rather surprised we don’t hear or heard much of them but on facebook they say the next EP is almost finished, I’m curious if they can keep up the same level as this one. BUY the full EP right here!

Electric is the love

I’ve been scavenging the blogosphere and our inbox this evening and found some tracks worth posting about! And apparently I felt like talking about it!

I’ll start off with the biggest hype on the blogs the last few days: Stylo from the Gorillaz. The remixes from Alex Metric, Yuksek and Chiddy Bang have been posted on numerous blogs and are praised by many authors and readers. Now today Chemical Jump posted a new remix from my favourite French House producer: Louis La Roche. As expected very funky with a down-tempo beat. Perfect for a relaxing evening!

Gorillaz – Stylo (Louis La Roche ‘Better Late Than Never’ Remix)

Another relaxing tune with some disco house influences comes from Moullinex who remixed Justin Faust‘s new release “Holdin’ on”. The digital release is available on Beatport. Not convinced yet? Check the original “Holdin’ On” and other production “Witty” on the Discodust blog.

Little Boots scored rather well with her debut album “Hands”, but apparently the album wasn’t released in the US/Canada yet. Thanks to Elektra the release will also be available in the US and Canada March 2nd. One of the exclusive new remixes comes from GRVRBBRS. They remixed Tune Into My Heart. Very funky with of course the brilliant vocals from miss Little Boots herself.

Gonzales is bringing more damage in the electronic dance scene then you would expect! His rework of Boys Noize & Erol Alkan – Waves was to say the least AMAZING. A few days ago he unleashed a mixtape on the blogosphere. Beats, perfect lyrics and the amazingly perfect fitting piano in the background. You can find the mixtape right here. Gonzales also made a rework of Rollin’ & Scratchin by Daft Punk, his success-formula applies here as well!

Daft Punk – Rollin’ & Scratchin (Gonzales Rework)

Time to crank this post up with some bouncy tunes. Die Antwoord took the internet by storm and socialchannels as Facebook and Twitter were flooded with Die Antwoord videos. Of course it didn’t take long for remixes to appear such as this one by Slap In The Bass. Not a top quality production but quite enjoyable, just see it as some “Next-Level Sh*t!”.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Die Antwoord – Zef Side (Slap In The Bass Remix)

Last but not least a taster from the remix EP from our two Portuguese friends Zombies For Money (Dj Manaia and Klipar). Some interesting names on the remix EP: Malente, Jay Orbinson and Foamo, but if you want to get your hands on these remixes you’ll have to buy them on Beatport where the EP will be released the 25th February. We got, as a perfect taster, the remixes by Drop Top and Zeder.

Michael Jackson

Yesterday evening Michael Jackson passed away by the cause of a heart failure. The news came as a shock for practicaly the whole world and especially for the music world who lost their biggest icon. Michael Jacksons album “Thriller” is still the best sold album in the world. His music was an inspiration for many artists even for us djs and producers. A lot of his tracks were remixed over and over and they never got boring. I selected three of those remixes who probably will be played a lot the coming weeks.

Michael Jackson – Jam! (Project Cyborg -Ladies- edit)

Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal (LAZRtag remix)

Michael Jackson – Thriller (Louis La Roche remix)

Summer time with Louis La Roche

Thursday I’m leaving for 8 days to Spain (If anyone knows some good nightlife spots in Madrid or Valencia let me know!). So this means I wont be posting for 8 days(not that I did a lot of posting lately). Anyway I needed some good music to get in the mood! I stumbled on this new track by Louis La Roche called Be brave. Brilliant song to spend some time in the sun outside with this track in the background! The track is part of Louis La Roche his newest EP “Me & Her”. Have a listen at it on his myspace and then just buy it on beatport!
