Till Tonight (MSTRKRFT Remix)

Everytime I’m posting a MSTRKRFT remix I feel a bit nostalgic too the early days of this blog. Because a good two years ago when I started blogging MSTRKRFT was pretty hot with their Vuvuvu and Bounce tracks, but after that it wasn’t until Heartbreaker ft. John Legend that they really blew my socks off, which is in the end probably my favourite MSTRKRFT track. This next remix they did for Laidback Luke‘s “Till Tonight” is far from being as good as Hearbreaker, but it does have that nice amount of disorted electronic beats and bleeps!

Catching up

So I’ve been very very busy lately with school, vacation, etc. With all that behind me I’m ready to post again, but before I do so I have some catching up to do. This post will contain tracks and mixtapes I’ve missed during the past weeks.

The first track is a colaboration between Shinichi Osawa and our very own Paul Chambers (known from Yeah, Techno!). I had some high expectations when I heard these two producers where teaming up and all I can say is that they haven’t let me down. Just listen to the drop at 1:32 and you’ll know enough!

The following remixes are rather old but for some reason I never came across them. I’m talking about two remixes of Chromeo‘s Tenderoni. Both MSTRKRFT‘s and Proxy‘s version are my absolute summer anthems!

Next up are some recent mixtapes:

Dada Life keeps surprising me with their monthly mixes, they know which tracks match and how to mix them fluently together. They also have funny descriptions for their mixtapes, no champagne and bananas this time but the sound of good meat gone bad. Have no clue what they are talking about? Just sit back and listen.

Tracklist:
Etienne De Crecy – Hope (studio version)
Tom Staar – Two Tone Simms
Calvertron & Tim Healey – Back 2 The Ghetto
Sebastien Drums, Avicii – My Feelings For You (Angger Dimas Bambu Remix)
Kaskade – Dynasty (Dada Life Remix)
Sovnger – Breathless (Alex Gopher Day Remix)
Squeeze – Doop (Uppermost Remix)
Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (Dada Life Remix)
Mr Blink – Gecko (Original Mix)
Boy 8-Bit – The Keep
Tiesto Feat. Diplo – C’Mon (Original Mix)
Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Dada Life – Tomorrow
Technotronic vs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – Pump Up The Jam (Crowd is Jumpin Mix)¨

The next mixtape comes from a Belgian dj called Skyve Reuter, his mix was broadcasted on Stubru last weekend. He’s also giving away an edit of You’ve Got The Love by Florence & The Machine vs The xx. A nice relaxing track to wake up with!

What keeps you going

Studying for my final exam today (which is tomorrow), but I feel so bad leaving you guys hanging without any tracks for almost a week now, that I decided to “quickly” make this post. We got some quality tracks in our inbox from all sorts of different artists and labels and here the ones that caught my eye:

I’m starting of with this funky remix by Sabotage for “MMMatthias – James”, which probably falls a bit out of line with the rest of the upcoming tracks in this post. Very funky and old-schoolish, digging this kind of music a lot lately.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

MMMatthias – James (Sabotage Remix)

Then a remix for We Love Animals, the “famous” track of Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell. Heard some other remixes the last few weeks, but this is the first one that I like. Religion gave the original a somewhat of a “MSTRKRFT” like sound.

Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell – We Love Animals (Religion Remix)

Talking about MSTRKRFT, the next track is a remix by Blende for “Breakaway” which was featured on their recent album “Fist Of God”. I don’t know how much of you guys know Blende, but if you do know their remixes, you know it’s banging electro trash your getting. It was a long time since I enjoyed a good trash electro track, but this one is most definitely spot on!

Next one is from Dutch ravy electro producer Sick Boy, It’s a promo for his upcoming EP “Hysteria”. It will be release the 20th February including remixes from Motor, NoNewYork and Homework.

And I’m ending this post with two full EP’s as free giveaway! The first one is the latest Breakdown featuring remixes from Lazy Ants and Jeff T. And the second EP is from Jean Balaise called “G.O.D.” (newcake.nl).

MSTRKRFT – Bounce (Felix Cartal remix)

Earlier this week Felix Cartal uploaded his newest remix from MSTRKRFT – Bounce for free download. And because I notest a lot of our visitors are big MSTRKRFT fans (based on the number of downloads on the MSTRKRFT tracks), I thought it wouldn’t be more then fair to post a download link for this one. About the track itself, I’d have to say , I’ve heard better stuff from Felix Cartal. Especially the intro is a bit lame, cheap I would say. But … once passed the intro it goes a level higher, very high sounds with a short deep beat and ofcourse the catchy lyrics from the original. Anyway judge for yourself, ALL I DO IS PARTY!

MSTRKRFT remix from John Legend ft Andre 3000

John Legend is a R&B/soul artist from America. In 2004 he got famous because of his album Get Lifted, which was produced by Kanye West. Now in 2008 he just released his new single Green Light which is the first single of the new Album Evolver. For the single he worked together with Andre 3000, he is a member of the band Outkast. Well enough of this background information and I’ll get to the point. MSTRKRFT remixed this track and made it available since today for everyone to download, for free. With thanks to Sebectrikov for letting us know.

Track-Mania

I’ve got a lot of tracks lined up for you guys! So here we go.

First off, a remix from Jence. Doesn’t ring any bells ? that name ? Well if I say he is the skinny guy from Digitalism , it will! He remixed a track from the Presets called Talk Like That. When you hear the remix, you can definitely tell he’s a member of Digitalism.
Presets – Talk Like That (Jence remix)

Then, a new remix from MSTRKRFT – BOUNCE by High Powered Boys a collaboration between Surking and Bobmo, who have been friends sinds childhood. In awaiting for the Bloody Beetroots remix of BOUNCE, here is the High Powered Boys version!
MSTRKRFT – BOUNCE (High Powered Boys remix)

Now, a brand new remix from Project Cyborg. They just won PragaTown Dj contest which gave them a place in the line-up of this years PragaTown dance edition the 13th september. They play next to dj’s as Geht’s Noch?!, Ed & Kim, Sound of Stereo, The Subs and many more … . Their new remix is a remix from Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg, so for all the ghetto-tech lovers here it is…
Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg – The Next Episode (Project Cyborg remix)

Next up, a remix from Stereo Heroes – Moon Knight by backstreetboystotalrudeghettodancingclub or, maybe shorter, BSBTRGDCLUB. Too be honest the worst name you could pick for promotional reasons, or isn’t it? Well these guys have some good sound and a lot of own work aswell, you can check it out at their myspace.
Stereo Heroes – Moon Knight (BSBTRGDCLUB remix)

Then another remix, from a guy who calls himself Mustard Pimp. He’s from France and is bringing us a remix from a track just released on the new Crookers EP, Il Brutto. Some Fidget pimp’in stuff.
Crookers – Il Brutto (Mustard Pimp El Burrito remix)

And then 2 tracks, which already been posted before, but the quality was crap, probably ripped from a dj set or something. Well today I found decent “blog-able” quality versions of those two tracks. I’m talking about….:
MGMT – Electric Feel (Justice remix)
Busy P – To Protect And Entertain (Crookers remix)

Exclusive MSTRKRFT interview!

Polsslag, Hasselt. We’re waiting in the persroom for JFK from MSTRKRFT to show up for an interview. JFK walks in, barely awake, but already with a glass of Jack Daniels in his hand and surprisingly already looking fresh. But hey, what’s better then Jack Daniels as breakfast?

Why is one of the tracks from the new EP bounce, called VUVUVU?
JFK: Well that’s actually a funny story, while we were dining with Justice. Justice told us: “When we make music it sounds like Boem, Tsch, Boem, Tsch en when you guys make music it sounds like VUVUVU. So after we made this track, we realized it really does sound like VUVUVU, so we called it that way.

This track is actually made only for dj’ing. I found it rather funny knowing that some people listen to a track like this in their cars and stuff. The track sounds all time like VUVUVU, so it’s not really meant to be listened while chilling in your car or elsewhere.

This track started his own life through youtube, from your set in Paris.
JFK: “The most fucked up thing” was that a person ripped the audio from a youtube movie and then placed it online as “the new MSTRKRFT record”. When I heard it in a club I was like, what the fuck is this?! We had to release the record, because I didn’t want people to think that was the new MSTRKRFT record!

When is the new album coming out in Belgium?
JFK: I’m hoping for September, but the problem is, that we have lots of record companies. I want the album to be released everywhere around the same time, so it would be fair to all and otherwise people will start downloading it anyway. So keep an eye for it around September.

Are you going to play at festivals in Belgium this summer ?
I hope so, I would like to play on pukkelpop again, it would be my 4th time. Once with Death from Above and twice with MSTRKRFT. A third time with MSTRKRFT would be great.

Are you planning on playing with the Mexican Sombreros again at Pukkelpop?
JFK: You know the funny thing was, I totally forgot about them. That night I went to sleep at around 9 o’clock in the morning, because some of our friends were also playing that night. So we drank a lot of alcohol that night (I think there was nothing left anymore), I then, while I was very drunk, put on the sombrero and thought it looked cool. Later when we came back to the VS, a friend told me about me wearing the sombrero while playing. I couldn’t even remember it until I saw the youtube movie.

Isn’t it hard to play while being that drunk?
JFK: I started dj’ing in 1996, so I have been around now for quite a long time, and the records we play are records of our own, and the rest of the records are always a own version we give to the records. So being knowing the records that good, I don’t mess stuff up. But unfortally I don’t get that drunk anymore like I used to do. I can be totally wasted without you knowing, but you don’t have to ask me anything about it the next day, because I don’t remember much about it then, kinda like the sombrero story, haha.

Is MSTRKRFT going to play their new album live?
JFK: I think playing live in the electro scene is a big discussion, Because i played live in Death from above, i know what live Music is. Electro Music is made with samples, so you’re not playing live. It’s a discussion we have alot. If i wanted to make a live song, i want for example to play the drums. In dance Music however, no matter how famous you are, if the mix ain’t right, everyone will go and yell “BOE”. You’re being rated by your mixing skills. De timing has to be perfect, but what’s most important for me: how do I merge 2 songs into 1 new song of your own. You’ve got to put your own personal touch in it. I think in some aspects, electro Music is even more live then making real live Music. When you’re playing live Music, you can’t just switch a note when u want to. Because you wrote the song how it is and you have to play it like that, otherwise it just doesn’t sound well. Dj’ing is a different story, you can mix whatever record you want with the one playing.

The poster of Polsslag said ‘DJ-set’, that’s why we thought maybe a live set in the future?
JFK: I don’t know why they did that, we’ve never played live.

Why do you call yourself MSTRKRFT and not just MASTER KRAFT?
JFK: Well, at First we wanted to use the name MASTER KRAFT, but there was a company in Canada that already used the name. It produces screwdrivers etc. So we just left out the vowels, and it actually kept sounding the same.

What was your First big love: was it rock, dance or ain’t there a big difference ?
JFK: I think your First Music is the Music your parents listen to. My parents mostly listened to black – and rap Music. For example: my parents hated bands like the rolling stones and the beatles. While i actually quite liked them. I try to bring all my influences together in my Music. If you hear the new MSTRKRFT, you’ll be blown away!

Track-Mania

Time for a new Track-Mania. Check out the must have tracks we spotted this time !

We start of with a new remix of “Usher – Love In This Club” by MSTRKRFT. Another perfect track for the dancefloor. An interesting fact about the original track, is that the background tune probably was stolen from a youtube movie. That specific youtube movie was made by 2 Belgium students !

Usher – Love In This Club (MSTRKRFT Remix)

Bob Rifo, the man behind The Bloody Beetroots remixes just doesn’t sit still. His latest remix is from the track “72 Virgins” from the UK band Shitdisco.

Shitdisco – 72 Virgins (The Bloody Beetroots remix)

Some more Italian violence in this times Track-Mania by the Crookers. Their new remix is a remix from Moby’s “I love to move in here” a track from Moby’s new album “Last Night”. Very typical sound for the Crookers, which you’ll definitely enjoy.

Moby – I love to move in here (Crookers crack remix)

Next one is a new track/remix By StereoHeroes called FUKT featuring Teen Wolf. We posted their NLLR mixtape a few weeks ago, which was pretty impressive and so is the track !

StereoHeroes – FUKT ft Teen Wolf

Last but not least, not such a recent track, but still worth posting. A remix of “Justice – DVNO” by Les Petits Pilous. In my opinion the best DVNO remix at the moment.
