Chill Sessions #7

Part 7 of the Chill Sessions series! Some new stuff, but I like to add some older tunes in here too.

Diego Bernal comes from Texas and makes great Latin influenced Hip Hop beats. “Besides…” is his second album and it’s filled with great vibes from beginning to end. Download a free copy of the whole album here!

Diego Bernal – A Long Second [2010]

Diego Bernal – Blue Neon [2010]

A lot of attention has been going to James Blake lately. No surprise if you ask me. He knows how to make songs sound both haunting and beautiful at the same time. His next single “Limit To Your Love” will be released on 29th November.

I included a track or two from his “Klavierwerke EP”.

James Blake – Klavierwerke [2010]

James Blake – I Only Know (What I Know Now) [2010]

18-year old Numan made this electronic tune using samples of photo cameras. It has been released on Planet Mu with three other tracks. You can find more information about the guy in this interview.

Numan – Photograph [2010]

The next song is more up-tempo! Cassius (Phillipe Zdar + Boombass) made this one for their album “15 Again”. I’m not a big fan of the CD but this is one of the stand out tracks for me.

Cassius – See Me Now [2006]

Two hip hop tunes: the first one is from Masta Killa’s second album. The Wu-Tang Clan member combines some great rhyming with cool samples. The other track comes off ‘Black On Both Sides’, the critically acclaimed album by Mos Def.

Masta Killa – Ringing Bells [2006]

Mos Def – Ms. Fat Booty [1999]

Brains…Off

Lately I’ve been having a hard time finding new electro bangers. It’s not that I can’t find any of them, but it just only happens occasionally that I get impressed by a new electro track. Not a couple times a day, like it used to be. Is it because I’m just bored of the whole electro/fidget sound, or because the electro scene is kinda dead at the moment? Personally I think the dubstep scene is delivering much more original and inspired stuff right now. But then again I can imagine a lot of you think differently, so I’ll post some of the electro tunes I could enjoy.

First of all I think Dirty Disco Youth does keep bringing those nice bouncy electro bangers. His last EP “…Off” released on Dim Mak is no exception. Here’s the B-side of the EP and a remix by FUKKK OFFF.

Check out the latest release coming from Party Like Us Records. Udachi‘s wobbly “P-Funk Skank” gets remixed by great producers like Nadastrom, Dave Nada and B.Rich. Here’s the original track.

Our Dutch neighbours have been doing some great things in the electro scene last year. This year it will be Oliver Twizt making big tunes like “Gangsterdam”, released on Laidback Luke’s Mixmash label.
