Nobody Beats the Drum – Poisson Vert

Huge fan of this Dutch treesome Nobody Beats The Drum since their track Grindin, very powerful track accompanied by an amazing stop-motion clip (check it right here). Their next EP “Poisson Vert” also catched my eye first before it catched my … euhm … ears! The clip is by the same director and is another stop-motion masterpiece, I already posted this one on our facebook page so let us discus the music here instead!

Poisson Vert is again a very strong and powerful track that will blow your mind especially live I think. Because the EP is released on Boemklatsch Records you can expect some regulars for the remixes being Shameboy, TWR72 and a newcomer (for me atleast) Meneo who come with somewhat of a real mind-fuck remix. First a huge built up, making you expect a real epic bangor, but after the drop the BPM goes down drastic giving a very weird effect! Eventually I’ll have to say that the Shameboy remix is my favourite for adding much more synths and sounds to the original.

Clash The Disko Kids – Transient EP

It’s been a while since we posted anything from Basserk Records so what better way then making this up by posting their soon to be released EP “Transient” which has recently been played by Jaymo & George on BBCRadio1. The EP contains remixes from Sovnger, Modek and last but definitely not least Shameboy (check out 4:26!!!). The Shameboy remix and Modek remix are the absolute bangers of this EP, maybe it is because of their Belgian nationality I don’t know. I just feel more attracted to them. Be sure to pick up the EP when it gets released tomorrow, they also told me a secret remix will be given away for free!

Crazy weeks followed by crazy weekends need crazy tracks! Some nice blog promos were sent in the blog atmosphere the last few days, and here is a small selection of it!

BMKLTSCH RCRDS has two new releases, one from the crazy Boemklatsch crew ft Mike Lord and the other one is from well known dutch electro producer Jaimie Fanatic. Both releases feature a nice batch of remixers as Shameboy (killer electro-techno remix!), Calverton, Hostage and more. For all the remixes I like to refer to Beatport: Boemklatsch / Jaimie Fanatic.

Jaimie Fanatic – This Beat is Ill (Hostage Remix)

Completly in love with these guys (Midnight Conspiracy) after their remix for Crystal Castles – Vietnam (which u can still get here) and this next remix they did for a band called Innerpartysystem which they did a DJ tour with. The remix sounds a bit like a dubstep-electro hybrid reminding me of another killer track from some time ago, but can’t recall the name, anyone know which track I’m talking about?

Innerpartysystem – And Together (Midnight Conspiracy Remix)

And finally! A new EP from probably my favourite electro producer: Zombie Nation. Always a nice and raw energy this man brings when performing in his livesets and when he will bring the following EP I can believe it will only be the same! The full release of the EP called Overshoot/Sheek is coming this monday but for now we have this free remix by Bart B More, the full EP will also include a remix by DJ Mehdi.

Zombie Nation – SQUEEK (Bart B More Remix)

GOOSE is getting a lot of good feedback for their second album, but it’s not really a dancefloor album, but that can easly be fixed with some remixes! “Words” the first single of the album Synrise, is getting it’s own remix pack release. WORDS REMIXES will be out on the 26th Incl. Boris Dlugosh, The Living Islands and more!

Shameboy 2010

Early 2010 Jimmy Dewit said goodbye to Shameboy and was replaced by Dominik Friede. I’m still a fan of Shameboy’s early work but I really like where their sound is going now. Unlike in the early days, Shameboy is also doing a ton of remixes. One of these remixes they did was for “Kelis – Acapella”. It was an unofficial one but lead to their latest official one: “Kelis – Scream” after the management of Kelis really liked the “bootleg” they did.

Some other remixers on this track are LARiots and AL-P from MSTRKRFT if I remember correctly from their interview on stubru yesterday. Anyway, check out a small minimix with 4 upcoming remixes by Shameboy and the video on top is a live perfromance at Pukkelpop 2010 playing their latest own production “Battery Acid”.

Rechoque Redux EP

Everybody rejoice as Belgiums most succesful dj-duo Luuk Cox and Jimmy Dewit, better known as Shameboy, brought out a ‘new’ EP, which as the title says is an hommage to Rechoque, Shameboy’s big breakthrough. The EP is composed of a rework made by Shameboy themselves and 3 remixes.

Personally i think the rework is excellent, very different but also recognizable. Alex Gopher made a bit of a electro-house remix, very pleasing on the ear. The Fukkk Offf remix is not that renewing, it’s basically rechoque with a deeper bassline, but still sounds nice. And last but not least, Markus Lange also kept the basic synth that makes Rechoque great but put in a robotvocal and some nice additions to support the song. Overall, this is a FANTASTIC EP with a brilliant rework and 3 remix of a very high quality.

Rock Werchter 2008

Rock Werchter, a 4 day festival in Belgium, known in the whole world for his perfect organisation. The festival is mainly a rock festival but it has some good dance/electro names this year, I’ll only review these names, because we are still an electro blog.

Thursday 03/07

Shameboy, our Belgian duo. With the release of their second album they had some more “playing room”. They played a varried set with tracks from the new and old album. We got the Shameboy sound we expected, but too bad they didn’t really mixed the tracks together … , we have the liveset ! so you can listen for yourself. Download it right here

Soulwax, … wow. The third time I saw them, but this show absolutely blew me away. A mixture of their own tracks and own remixes all blended into one whole banging set!

And to end the evening the two Dewaele brothers (better known as 2manydj’s) played a dj-set. They started off very good with some more commercial tracks and more “underground” tracks like , fake blood – mars . But towards the ending their mixing became a bit messy, I guess they were getting tired or something, but hey, I can’t blame them.

Not much electro/dance that day, two names: Digitalism and Moby.

I didn’t watch Digitalism till the end , because Moby started around halfway through the set. So I went off pretty early at Digitalism, but good news, the set is recorded and you can download it right here.

Moby, didn’t played a djset, but instead a big liveshow with normal instruments, vocal singer(what a voice!) and of course Moby himself. Moby played all his hits and the more slower songs were reinvented into a dance version, somewhat like the moby remixes album.

Sunday 06/07

Justice, as expected. A liveset with most of their own tracks and a remix or 2, 3 … . The overall set was good, but the marquee was really packed with people and the screaming and shouting even came over the music now and then. “Because we … are … your friends … you’ll … never be alone again !”

New Shameboy album

After the debute album “Hi Lo and in Between”, Shameboy is back with a new album called “Heartcore”. The electronic duo concist out of Jimmy Dewit (Discobar Galaxy) and Luuk Cox(Buscemi). The album has 10 tracks with the typical Shameboy sound!
