Hold Tight

The evenings are getting colder and darker again and I already marked my calendar for next summer. In the mean while lets go and look for some tracks to lighten up those dark evenings. First up Shook with a free track ‘Hold Tight’ coming from his next EP ‘The Rise And Fall’ which will be out on vinyl the 7th of November, followed by a digital release on all major stores. Very very veeery easy and smooth listening tune, love it.

Now time for some synth pop coming from The C90s, they remixed the track ‘Last Words’ from the Australian band Clubfeet. Lots of layers and different sounds in this remix which comes as no suprise when reading about the equipment they used: “There’s a proper Italo Moog bass line under layers of Juno pads and melodies, lots of Korg arpeggios, and a nice, fat Yamaha sub. We even managed to get some more mileage out of the glockenspiel I picked up in Paris.”

Let’s stay in Australia for our last track: Cadillac – Make you feel (Marcos Cabral Remix), not much interesting info about the original or the man behind the remix but I think it fits in fine with the other two tracks, a bit more electro pop, all very downtempo and easylistening. All in all, something I can appreciate on days like this.

M.I.A – Internet Connection (Shook Remix)

Old news for those who know their way around the blogs, but Shook has come with another killer remix. After his (REALLY) amazing remix for Phoenix he now remixed M.I.A. – Inter Connection. M.I.A. remixes almost never fail for some reason. I still regularly put on the remix by The Twelves for Boyz, which still sounds fresh today, definitely have a listen to that one here (semi-live performance), if you don’t know it already.

Phoenix – Lisztomania (Shook Remix)‏

In the early days of the blog I introduced a mysterious producer from the Netherlands by the name Shook. Didn’t follow his latest productions and mixtapes, but today his manager dropped in a pretty sweet remix by Shook. He remixed one of my favourite bands of the past summer “Phoenix” (Still listen to their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix when I get homesick to the past and amazing Summer). The remix takes the track Lisztomania to higher atmospheres with the immense deep and perfectly balanced synth sounds.

SHOOK

It all began in 1986. It was the year Shook was born. As a young kid, Shook saw a light falling from the sky. It was the same night he stumbled on a pair of mysterious looking sun glasses. Shook wasn’t a big fan of taking worn items he had found in the forest home, but against his principles he picked up the glasses and put them in his pocket. At that moment Shook felt a shiver running through his spine. A strange feeling came over him. He didn’t know what it was, but it felt as if someone – or something – was lurking in the dark, watching him.

A mysterious guy from the Netherlands. Inspired by artists as Justice, Danger, Kavinsky, Daft Punk, …, here are 2 of his tracks who are all connected to the story you can check at his website.
