Too Long

Another long day at the office needs to be followed by some quality music. Lots of soundcloud previews and not so many downloads unfortunately. But who doesn’t stream a lot of his music online anyway? Let’s start with some previews of upcoming killers.

Those who read my post about RBMA know Jamie Woon and Hudson Mohawke once got selected for an exclusive producer program of the RBMA. These two guys are really hot on the blogs lately, combining the two is just instant win (or should I say bi-winning nowadays?).

Talking about dynamic duos, our two good friends of Mumbai Science are currently touring in America. They got so known and popular in such a short time, I bet it must all feel a bit surreal too them. Next release they are featured on is the new Mixhell EP on Boysnoize Records. DIM MAK likes to describe it as Indie Electro, so I’m just going to follow them on that one and add that it reminds me a lot of Amnesia – Ibiza in high pitch!

The next Jan Driver is coming later this month. It has more of a funky subtle approach then I’m used of him (love Gain Reaction!) but it works well! Jan Driver also has an other own EP out called Xtra 2011 which is also another electro banger (look it up on Beatport!).

Okay, so enough with the soundcloud previews. Next up are three nice and easy-listening remixes. One from ex-Aeroplane: The Magician. Also a new remix by Cosmonaut Grecko who created quite the traffic on the blogs with his remix for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and now had the balls to take on a Daft Punk track. And why not end with a remix from Soulwax themself, Not a new remix unfortunately, but the remix they did for Ladytron’ Seventeen which is now featured on the Ladytron Best Of Remixes, out now!

Ladytron – Seventeen (Soulwax Mix)

Finally! Our good friend Paul Chambers found a record label for his track “Yeah Techno”. Phantasy is the label who’s picking this one up. It didn’t come as surprise because Erol Alkan had nothing but good to say about it, after getting it from his good friends 2manydj’s. The EP is set to release 13th of June on your favourite Digital platform and there will also be a limited press on vinyl (250 to be exact, including a free poster!) which should already be available by the end of this month. The EP will include the remixes by Soulwax (AWESOME!) and Beataucue. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

Okay, my last post for the day focusses on some younger and new talent trying to get there stuff out there.
First up are two youngsters who go by the name “Tex Taiwan” they started somewhere 2008 and are finally coming with their very first album. Their music style falls in line with bands as Crystal Castles and Kap Bambino. Damaged Hearts is the name of this album that will be released digitaly the 21st June, but first there will be two single releases: ‘Labyrinth’ plus YLHCSD remix released on the 10th May & ‘Haphazard’ plus Aerotronic remix out on the 31st May.

Tex Taiwan – Labyrinth

Faisal sent me a remix for “Soulwax – E Talking”. As a big, big (seriously big) fan of Soulwax I was very curious and I must say, for an unknown Belgian guy, he did a rather good job on this one. The whole remix just feels right, great build ups, good sampling (I hear a sample coming from Justice, correct me if I’m wrong), I like!

Soulwax – E-talking (Faisal remix)

Last but not least, a band that has been featured on many blogs the last few weeks. Jamaica (that’s how they are called) almost literaly came out of nowhere. Their Debut album is coming soon and is produced by Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk sound Engineer Peter Franco! What keeps you going

Studying for my final exam today (which is tomorrow), but I feel so bad leaving you guys hanging without any tracks for almost a week now, that I decided to “quickly” make this post. We got some quality tracks in our inbox from all sorts of different artists and labels and here the ones that caught my eye:

I’m starting of with this funky remix by Sabotage for “MMMatthias – James”, which probably falls a bit out of line with the rest of the upcoming tracks in this post. Very funky and old-schoolish, digging this kind of music a lot lately.

MMMatthias – James (Sabotage Remix)

Then a remix for We Love Animals, the “famous” track of Crookers ft Soulwax & Mixhell. Heard some other remixes the last few weeks, but this is the first one that I like. Religion gave the original a somewhat of a “MSTRKRFT” like sound.

Talking about MSTRKRFT, the next track is a remix by Blende for “Breakaway” which was featured on their recent album “Fist Of God”. I don’t know how much of you guys know Blende, but if you do know their remixes, you know it’s banging electro trash your getting. It was a long time since I enjoyed a good trash electro track, but this one is most definitely spot on!

I don’t think this new share from the Crookers needs much of an introduction. I fell in love with it the first time I heard this, mainly because of the clear input by Soulwax (I even thought it was like the new track from Soulwax). The drums in this track are from Igor Cavalera drummer from the band Supultura and member of MixHell. MixHell will be performing at Soulwaxmas in Belgium, where Igor will be doing some live drumming as well. Love Love LOOOOOVE

Soulwax live @ Soulwaxmas

Last time I saw them was at Rock Werchter last summer. Damn, far out the best performance I’ve heard those 4 days, a rollercoaster ride from the beginning till the end. When I heard about the dvd+cd they were making, I was hoping the cd to be just like their gig at Werchter, a mixture of most of the remixes and nite versions. But a bit dissapointed it turned out to be an older setlist with only tracks from the nite versions. Today I spotted this link to their liveset at Soulwaxmas Hasselt on LAFriendly.com. I haven’t heard it for myself but it should be a tracklist somewhat close to Werchter! I hope LAFriendly.com doesn’t mind me sharing the “LAFriendly exclusive” liveset with you guys.
