Hello again

My last post here is almost two weeks ago, for what it’s worth I had a lot of stuff going on and hard decisions to make. The decision I made will hopefully benefit the website in the future, more on that later. So what’s music been telling me lately:

Some nice releases went down this month, Gesaffelstein – Variations probably my favourite one of this month along with the newest release on BNR Trax, a side/sub label of Boys Noize Records reaching back to the old school roots. Shadow Dancer did release number two and this is how it sounds!

Shadow Dancer – It’s The Everything

Returning closer to home, a new release on Monkey See Monkey Do label, I didn’t even know this label still existed. Wolfie brings an EP with 3 original tracks and 4 remixes. All very tropical/bongo-like/housy tracks, making me immediately forget how cold it is outside.

Wolfie – Moretto (Bongo Remix)

Another Belgian label, Midnight Munchies is releasing a Remix EP filled with remixes from their very first release Brrrat! by Steve Aoki and Armand Van Helden. You can stream it below, but if you want this as a free download get it here.

Some time ago I posted the Gui Borrato remix for Arsenal – Estupendo. Estupendo was the first single in America and in the meanwhile Arsenal is growing their in popularity and release a second single Lotuk. Also this one got remixed, this time by Inflagranti, a bit less deep house like the Gui Borrato one, but a bit more funky house with a rather heavy bass!

WIN WIN WIN “The Greatest Switch” en “ILT 2010 Compilatie” + Lektroluv at Fnac

For all my non-dutch visitors, sorry guys, this is going to be a post completely in Dutch because I can only limit the contests to our Belgian visitors. Will make it up to you guys in the future!

We hebben weer twee compilaties klaarliggen om weg te geven in de vorm van een wedstrijd! Deze keer gaat om niet minder dan de nieuwe “The Greatest Switch” compilatie en de nieuwe I Love Techno 2010 Compilatie gemixed door Steve Aoki.

The Greatest Switch is weer een mooie compilatie van 3CD’s geworden met een selectie van de beste dance tracks allertijden, we mogen hiervan 3 exemplaren weggeven!. Vorig weekend werd ook aan de hand van luisteraar votes nog een top 100 beste dancetracks allertijden uitgezonden op Studio Brussel, die lijst kan je hier nog eens herbekijken en herbeluisteren!

Daarnaast hebben we ook nog 5 exemplaren liggen van de nieuwe I Love Techno compilatie. Deze jaarlijkse mixcd staat altijd voor ook de nieuwste tracks. Voor de 15de verjaardagseditie hebben ze beroep gedaan op Jackie Chan …. eeeuh ik bedoel Steve Aoki.

Hoe kun je nu meedoen? gewoon de instructies hier onderaan volgen, opgelet als op beide cd’s wilt kans maken moet je voor BEIDE een email sturen. Wedstrijden lopen tot Vrijdag 29 oktober 17:00.

Brrrat!

A good two weeks ago I posted this youtube video on our facebook page. It’s a recording from Steve Aoki at a gig in Russia where he dropped his collaborating with Armand Van Helden called: “Brrrat!”. The biggest suprise (a part from the track being a real banger!) was that it’s going to be released on a fresh Belgian label “Midnight Munchies“.

The first package is set to release the 21st September (Beatport Exclusive!) with remix by UK based producers Will Bailey and His Majesty Andre. A second package will follow soon with remixes by Bart B More, Netsky and BeatAuCue something to look forward to say the least! I’m curious which future releases Midnight Munchies will bring!

Rock the disco!

Small selection of rocking, bumping and funking tracks. First a freebee coming yet again from the Phantasy label. It’s the Beataucue remix for the immense hyped (and for good reasons) Yeah Techno! from Paul Chambers. For those who found the original and Soulwax mix to be too much techno and not enough electro, this will do the trick.

Now some stuff from across the Atlantic sea (America I guess?) a new track from the pop electro trio Hyper Crush. The Track is called AYO! and is produced by Diplo which you immediately hear. Not the most original track out there at the moment but this track will definitely work for the large crowds.

Hyper Crush – Ayo (Prod. By Diplo)

Another celeb from those areas is Steve Aoki, he made this remix for Nikki & Rich. Their originals is a mixture of pop, hip-hop and classic 60′s music. Of course our friend Steve Aoki added the usual bleeps and beats and we got ourselfs a decent electro track and what is left of Nikki’s vocals! And as an extra I threw in a remix by legend and pioneer Jazzy Jeff (yes, that dude from The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air).

Nikki & Rich – Next Best Thing (Jazzy Jeff Remix)

This one I got from the Chemicaljump blog, it’s a new remix from Laidback Luke for the track “Rock the disco” from Robbie Rivera. Simple and effective electro banger that will get everybody jumping for sure.

Another electro banger comes from Modek, his track “Pink” has a name that makes it look like it’s for sissys but it’s anything but for sissys! Very, very, veeeery heavy!

Next a small taster for the upcoming Swivel Hips EP “Headlines” releasing this Summer! This track is called Raffaella. Old school sample work with the better funky house out their!

The Disco Villians left the electro banger/trash genre a bit behind them and focussed mainly on Tech House the last two productions, they are currently looking for a label to release this next track “La Boa”. Good stuff. They didn’t bail on the electro genre, so we can expect some nice collaborations this Summer.

Forever

Drake is a rather fresh RnB artist who recently gained some wide attention with his single “Best I Ever Had” which was on his third official mixtape called “So Far Gone”. You can download this free mixtape here or … here. Since So Far Gone, Drake worked with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Mary J. Blige, and Jamie Foxx. His first studio album (including “Forever”) is set to be released early 2010 on Lil Wayne’s label.

Enough with the RnB talk, time for some electro and jackin house. For the Jackin House part we turn our sides to the Belgian duo “Serial Chillers“, owners of the awesome record label MSMD. They remixed Drakes “Forever” and turned into a real club house banger. This is a GetHypedOnThis exlusive so get it and drop it in the clubs while it’s still so damn HOT.

Drake – Forever (Serial Chillers drop the remix)

Another remix of Forever, this time by the “Rock God” of electro dj’s: Steve Aoki. The best way to discribe this remix is just to compare it with one of his previous remixes, namely: N.A.S.A. – Gifted (Steve Aoki Remix) which you’ll defenitly know. Solid, Headbanging electro! A cool thing I like about this remix is that Steve Aoki kept the vocals of all collaborating artists, being: Kanye W, Lil Wayne and Eminem.
