Totem (Surking ‘Gravity’ Edit)

Some real fresh sounds coming from the Marble label (the new label founded by Surkin, Bobmo and Para One after Institubes announced they stopped). As expected with guys like Surkin and Bobmo behind the wheels you would get some pretty old school sounding stuff. For instance this next track by the Marble Players (bobmo+surkin+paraone if you didn’t figured it out already).

The boys of Marble of course don’t only release EPs from their self, Canblaster recently releaed the EP ‘Totem’ on it which you can get right here. Surkin made an Edit of the EP named track and it’s up as a free download, fits right in with the Marble sound.

Institubes (2003-2011)

The Institubes label is dead (and for real this time). News that saddens me. It’s the label that introduced me to the so called “blog house”, back in 2006. Artists like Surkin, Bobmo and Para One had a platform to release their refreshing sounds. The first time I heard “Ghetto Obsession” and “Radio Fireworks” by Surkin, it felt like there was a whole unknown world of music just waiting there to be discovered. Maybe now these two tunes don’t sound that special anymore, but for me it was something really crazy, unheard of back then.

Surkin – Radio Fireworks [2006]

It was the time of the upcoming remix culture. I used to check Palms Out Sounds’ Remix Sundays, which lead me to artists like Para One, who brought a totally new style. Check out these tunes and the video for “Dudun-Dun”, all from around 2006.

HIGH POWERED BOYS — Rippin’ Off Canvas mix

Surkin and Bobmo team up again as High Powered Boys for a brand new EP on the Sound Pellegrino label. “Udon / Work” will be available on EP tomorrow and will feature along side the two orginals two remixes as well. It’s clearly a Sound Pellegrino release, not really the typical old school sounds we know from Surkin and Bobmo but it has more of a deep house vibe going on. Have a listen to the preview of Udon / Work and also check out this promotape they uploaded this weekend featuring an awesome tracklist (after the jump).
