Partys over? Over where?

Damn it! Keep missing out on stuff like this (maybe I should start reading more other blogs again). Apparently Turbo Recordings gave this next track away as a free download around Christmas time, still weirdly enough, this is the first time I’m listening to it.

As expected from Mr. Chambers: the right amount of beats and bleeps with some old school techno synths.

DAILY x LOCKED GROOVE

So Untitled! has launched a brand new record label called Level.01 Recordings (referring to the smaller room at the famous Untitled!-parties). The label is said to be focusing on ‘all good things bass’. Well that can’t be too bad, no? The first release is one of up-and-comer Daily, whose productions I’ve been following for a while now. I could really hear him grow with every new track he delivered, now finally resulting in his debut EP. A great remix by Voltron is included as well. The artwork was done by Beatcave.

Kick Some EP (Level.01 Recordings) by DAILY!

Talking about Beatcave, I noticed they had their first event coming up, appropriately titled ‘BEATCAVE‘. The line up holds some of the freshest Belgian talent, featuring upcoming producer Locked Groove, Daily, Jonas Lion (check out his latest, rather laid back mixtape here) and 1901.
Details about the event are here.

If you haven’t heard of Locked Groove yet, let me introduce him to you. This Belgian fellow named Tim Van de Meutter just got his debut 12″ called “Rooted EP” signed and released on Hotflush Recordings.

Locked Groove – Rooted EP [HFT020] by Hotflush

In a short period of time, Locked Groove received a lot of support, which didn’t leave the almighty TURBO Recordings unnoticed. A release can be expected around the end of spring. A couple of days ago Mixmag uploaded a mix by Thomas Von Party, featuring some of the unreleased tracks that TURBO has up its sleeve. Apparently the new Lock Groove-track can be heard at 20:11. I have to say it sounds big! Check it out!

Partys Over Los Angeles

After listening to a preview of the upcoming album by ZZT called “PARTYS OVER EARTH” released November 7th on Turbo Recordings, one track immediately stood out: Partys Over Los Angeles. Clearly a ZZT track and probably more Zombie Nation influences then Tiga influences. Partys Over Los Angeles will be the next EP/single coming from the album. It’s being released 25th october and comes with two remixes by Duke Dumont and Jon Convex. Really liking the Duke Dumont one, nice rave touch. Oh yeah and big up to Zombie Nation for doing some really annoying watermark samples for the preview copy.

GESAFFELSTEIN

”Gesaffelstein’s tracks have already received support from James Holden, Chloé, Damian Lazarus, and Laurent Garnier, to name a few, and this record is without a doubt his best yet. Every track on ‘Variations’ is a battle-tested bomb.

His sound is clearly influenced by New Wave and the Gigolo-era electro (2001-2) of fellow Frenchmen The Hacker and David Carretta, but it sounds like a fresh update rather than pastiche, revitalized and refined down to a modern and versatile core. These tracks work in Tiga’s festival sets alongside some of the summer’s biggest anthems, yet are equally at home in a more underground setting, e.g. Von Party’s 5am warm-up before Ivan Smagghe at a London warehouse party.

With remixes upcoming for Turbo and Institubes, a follow-up EP for Turbo in the works… if you want an idea as to how big Gesaffelstein will get this year, just think of him as ‘Brodinkelstein.’”

Just listening to the drop at 2:17 makes me go completely crazy.

Variations by turborecordings

Tracklist:
01—Variations
02—Selected Faces
03—Atmosphere
04—A Lost Era
05—Glass

Full EP will be released on November 9th.

Overtime

Turbo Recordings can be easily regarded as one of the best electronic music labels around. With Tiga, Dahlbäck, Proxy, Boys Noize, Popof, Zombie Nation and so many other artists under their wings, they have released some of the best techno(-ish) records of the past decade.

What brings us to their latest release, the remix EP of Tiga‘s track “Overtime” from his latest album ‘Ciao!’. Some big names like Adam Beyer & Dahlback, Sei A and Brodinski contributed with a remix. Most of the tracks have a rather minimal vibe. This is techno how it should be.

TIGA – OVERTIME REMIXES (TURBO080)

01. Overtime (Beyer & Dahlback Main Mix)
02. Overtime (Sei A Remix)
03. Overtime (Brodinski Remix)

On the second day of christmas …

… more tracks! I could have easily added them to the post below. But this way you guys won’t look over it. And for this post I’ll add some more “comments” to the tracks.

Uffie is finally coming with that long expected album next year. The first track we got from here was “Pop The Glock” which was actually an older track, but it now has his own videoclip and … remixes. This next fresh remix is by Felix Da Housecat. Love his producing skills, but his dj skills are a bit dissapointing (saw him at GrooveCity a good month ago).

Uffie – Pop The Glock (Felix Da Housecat’s Pink Enemy Remix)

Another christmas gift came from Erol Alkan. It’s an unreleased Disco 3000 edit of In Flagranti’s ‘Brash & Vulgar’. Mustapha 3000 is one of Erol Alkan’s aliasses, so I think Disco 3000 is aswell? Down tempo electro track with even a sample of Justice’s Let There Be Light in the second part of it.

In Flagranti – Brash Vulgar (Disco 3000 Edit)

Then a “special” track, something I’m curious about on how many of you guys are going to like this one. The original is from Mr Turkenburg, a music teacher. He made the track “In My Spaceship” along with his students. Stephen and David from Soulwax said on the radio that it’s going to be a big hit on Studio Brussels. I don’t know if they were just joking around or not, but In my case I hope it becomes one!

Jan Turkenburg – In My Spaceship (Pilooski Remix)

I recently posted a track “Rubix – Baiser Sur La Disco”. A true revival of disco, somewhat like “I Think I Like It” from Fake Blood. Baiser Sur La Disco is definitely one of my favourite tracks from 2009. He asked me if I could fix him up with some Belgian gigs. I had to dissapoint him and tell him that my influences aren’t that big, but all I can say to the organizers is: Check his productions, check his myspace, check this remix!

And before I’m off to yet another christmas party here are some other download tips:

Turbo Recordings on RCRD LBL

Turbo Recordings, the label of Mr. Tiga himself is sharing some tracks over at RCRDLBL. Most of the tracks are “older” stuff, but for those who didn’t buy them back then here is your chance to grab them. Loving the Turbo sound? Buy there latest releases at the Turbo Recordings online shop. Below you’ll find music from Turbo060 through Turbo066, including MP3s from Jesper Dahlback, Kolombo, Guy J, Adam Sky & Zoo Brazil, Hugg & Pepp, Zombie Nation, and Phonogenic. I’m using the RCRDLBL streams so we don’t get any angry letters from them for relocating the tracks (just download the track by hitting the download icon!).
